Team Name List Changes for 2023 FCS

This is a yearly exercise I like to run for us all to quantify changes and vet them out in a single thread I can utilize to make appropriate changes to behind the scenes stuff we use. Some obvious changes I have not made yet but feel free to put them all up in this thread as far as conference changes and teams and so forth and so on. This is only for the upcoming season.

For conference changes Murray St moves from the OVC to the MVFC and then Campbell and NC A&T move from the Big South to the CAA. There might be more but that's what I can think of off the top of my head.

Western Illinois will be moving from the MVFC to the OVC next year.

While not technically a name change, I would note that officially it is "Central Connecticut State"

Although branding/logos were updated to emphasize 'Central Connecticut' a few years ago, 'State' was never dropped.

CCSU remains the only acceptable abbreviation.

CCSU remains the only acceptable abbreviation.

And "Northern Iowa" isn't actually acceptable per branding guidelines unless it starts with University of - written or spoken. Especially in athletics only "UNI" is considered acceptable.

However, for the purposes of this list Northern Iowa is what should be used.

There are no abbreviations in this list.
