Ja Morant was suspended for 25 games to start the season and his return has a lot of conditions to be set, as detailed here (https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/ja-morant-suspension-grizzlies-star-to-miss-first-25-games-of-2023-24-season-for-second-gun-related-incident/). However, this isn't his first gun-related suspension as a player.

Note that in the past, the late David Stern handed down the following suspensions for gun-related offenses:
Latrell Sprewell - one WHOLE season
Gilbert Arenas - 50 games
Ron Artest (later Metta World Peace) - 75 games and ENTIRE playoffs while his team was there

In other leagues, I am aware of domestic violence-related suspensions in MLB, in addition to foreign substance, on-field discipline and PED-related suspensions. However, I do not know about other leagues, especially the NFL and NHL.

The NBA players' association is criticizing this suspension as excessive and inappropriate (https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/nbpa-calls-ja-morants-25-game-suspension-excessive-and-inappropriate/).

Apples and oranges. Morant legally had a gun in public. Spree choked his coach, Arenas brought a gun into an Arena and told a lnother player to shoot him. Artest went after a fan during a game. Morant needs someone to help him grow up.

Bingo.

But truth be told Im not a big fan of suspending players for being stupid on their own time.
