With App State's win today, I got to wondering, what is the record for most consecutive playoff wins?
I think Youngstown won 15 in a row.
1992: 3-1, lost in finals to Marshall
1993: 4-0, Nat champs
1994: 4-0, Nat champs
1995: missed playoffs
1996: missed playoffs
1997: 4-0, Nat champs
1998: missed playoffs
1999: 3-1, lost in finals to GSU
Is that right?

I think GSU won 10 in a row twice and has the most wins and NC titles. No team has won 3 NC titles in a row so Youngstown could not have 15 wins. GSU had 3 different shots to win 3 NC in a row.

We all know GSU has the most NC's and playoff wins, that wasn't the question.

"No team has won 3 NC titles in a row so Youngstown could not have 15 wins".
but his answer is relevant because it points out the obvious?

That wasn't in his post when I replied to it.

Not correct, because Youngstown won National Championships in three straight playoff appearances - they just didn't make it in '95 and '96.

Youngstown won 15 consecutive games they played. A consecutive win streak doesn't have to be in consecutive years, as long as they didn't lose any playoff games.
If La Salle reinstates football 10 years from now, their losing streak would still be in tact.

My contact at the NCAA says that Youngstown's wins would indeed be considered consecutive. GSU's 10 could be the mark for consecutive wins in consecutive seasons. Will try to get me more info later if possible.
