hats off to Wofford. That was one hard faught victory in a place that Coach Ayers said that S. Carolina stadium could not hold a candle too! Way to get the victory. That option had the Griz players out of place all day and when you get 3 turnovers and your coaching staff doesn't think you can get 1 yard for the TD then you get what you get. Good luck next week xthumbsupx

Well, that's what the Griz get for lettin' this game come down to the last play. 3 turnovers - 0 points. That ain't gonna cut it. And as dissapointed as I am for Dan Carpenter, I'd like to shoot Phenice for his play calling. Half the ******** time it seems like the Griz are playing for a field goal. And today, it came back to bite 'em in the ass. That game was a microcosm of the entire season. As great a job as the Griz did bottling up the Terriers offense and holding them to 23 points, I gotta take my hat off to the Terrier defense. Hilliard got his, but they got stops at the right time, and the Griz could not. We had multiple chances but 0 points off three turnovers and having to settle for three field goals pretty much sealed our fate.

Nice gameplan by the Wofford DC....they played Griz-style bend but don't break defense....and the OC pulled out the passing card at just the right times in the second half...looked like they caught the Griz napping every time he threw it up...

Our season is over, I'm goin' to Crapsville. Drinks are on DungeonJoe!!! xbawlingx xbawlingx xbawlingx xbawlingx xbawlingx xbawlingx

It's a strange game...
if wofford loses all they would hear from everybody is how "One dimensional" they are... Yet with one really good dimension you can win..!!!

I had this conversation with someone the other day. SIU was one dimensional last year with Whitlock (I think that was his name). With the option (and so MANY options at that), I'd hardly call this offense one-dimensional....and I actually would enjoy watching that offense, if it weren't pounding the ball down the Griz's throat today....xcoolx xcoolx xcoolx

I thought the turnovers were the difference early, our running game could not have held them if they had gotten up if the griz had gotten up 14.

Cleets,

When you run the option that well with that many formations you are not one dimensional. The Griz were hampered because they don't see a normal option team that much and, other than the SoCon, not many teams will see this type of option. The Griz players fly to the ball but against this offense you can't do that and it burned them many times today. Hard to get ready for this offense in 5 days. Hats off to Wofford.

I agree......the Griz D had thier work cut out for them and did a good job. I am just hoping the offense at some point gets back to being a dynamic offense. Today's loss was on the Griz O.
Good Luck Wofford!!!! Here is to you winning in Chatty!!!

I miss the 5 wideouts score in 90 seconds offense.

Funny how the Griz were supposed to be big and stong on the O-Line and Wofford stuffed the run pretty well all day. xsmhx This may be sour grapes but sometime that Griz O has to live up to expectations.

They always seem to allow a sack at a very critical time as well... xcoolx xcoolx xcoolx

the griz allowed or the terriers took a sack? 4 of them today. I must say the Griz O-Line was huge (at least bigger than Wofford), looks like finesse won that battle.

whatever way you want to look at it. It's been that way most of the year....I'd say that unit has underperformed tremendously (considering the expectations of that group at the beginning of the year).

Not having followed the griz as closely this year, I will certainly take your word for it. I think Wofford got a win today because they have flown under the radar most of the season with their offensive scheme. That will be more difficult to pulloff form here on out

I don't know, Joe. Their next opponent STILL has only 5-6 days to prepare for that offense. Just can't be done effectively unless you have an option team or two in your conference. xpeacex

Ya'll learned what we've known for a while, Wofford can be a real PITA every 3-4 years when they have an experienced group running that offense. They rarely hit you for a huge play, but they always seem to be getting those 2nd and 3rd and 2-4 yard plays that you just barely miss stopping.

You KNOW what's coming, but still don't stop it. That is what makes playing them so frustrating when they are clicking, as they are this year.

I hate it when my wife tells me she "saved me" $200.00...because it means she spent much more.

Carp was a great weapon - set the record for most points by a field goal kicker in the history of I-AA/FCS. The guy whose record was broken? Chris Snyder another Griz. Both played for Hauck.

Hmmm.

AZ and Joe, I agree with Griz 40, the offense lost this game. The offensive line did not block well and proved it when 5 offensive lineman and 1 back could not block out 4 guys rushing. If you were there checking it out with binoculars it was pitiful. There was no blocking for the pass and no blocking for Lex pass the line of scrimmage. He was met several times by multiply tacklers at the line with no blockers to help him out. It was obvious today that a well coached team that can execute can score 23 pts on a very good defense. Whereas our offense had 1st and goal at the 3 and we could not get in. Today it came down to play calling, o-line fundamentals (blocking) and coaching that would have won this game today for the griz. It was not the defense stopping the triple option offense or Woffords defense stopping us, we simply stopped ourselves. If you were there and saw the game you would realize that we had opportunities but could not execute. It has been obvious to many fans here and on egriz that our o-line has not been the line we thought it would be, it is hard to say if it was the players not playing up to expectation or if they were not coached well enough to carry out the fundamentals of blocking out their man. I believe it is both. The other aspect that has obivious to others has been offensive play calling that has been predictable and telegraphed. This cost us the game as well today.

Congrats to both teams! This has to sting for Montana. Good effort all around. Probably a bad time, but they're going to have to play some teams in the future to be ready for these matchups.

Game effort for both teams.
It stings....but to be honest it couldn't have been to a better group of guys. My brother told me (watching it from Billings) that the Wofford team went out and kneeled down with Montana after the game and the coach for Wofford in the post game had nothing but GREAT things to say. Not good...but GREAT. Class act Wofford!!!! Good luck!!!
