What do you guys think how Colorado's season will play out?

Will Deion be a resounding success or will it flop?

I predict his first season @ Colorado will flop.

Some of the players haven't sat that well with him, so they hit the portal...

A flopped first season will be in the books. xrulesx

If he’s upgrading the talent level it will be a success

to much attention on the Coaches

it’s about players

You can only count on athletic ability for so much. I will take a well coached team over a an athletic team who is poorly coached.

any average Coach can call an average play but it’s talent that takes it all the way

Not if they arent well coached. Look at the SWAC

Coaching is more than just Xs and Os. Its about teach disciplne, team work, lifes lessons. Along the way you develop a culture. Individual players with individual agendas are a curse upon a teams frame work.

Just like ****ty leadership in the military can be tragic. Im sure you can understand that point.

I watched their spring game and they will have some major growing pains. It looked like a FCS team at best. Bison would beat them this year. They play them next year but we'll see how they progress this year. I thought they said on the broadcast that there are already 70 new players on the team with more coming from Prime's mouth. You don't "gell" as a team in a few months. 2-3 wins this year, maybe.

I understand your point, I’m not saying good coaching is not important but an average coach is probably not a ****ty leader… These coaches are all basically the same meaning 60 % are interchangeable, you have the elite and the bad making up the rest

it’s more about Jimmies and Joes than X’s and O’s and this is why recruiting is what it is today, coaches need good players

It’s just the most talented teams seem to win and talent doesn’t have to mean bad apple

when you have the best talent and good coaching and all those things you mentioned you get a decade of Bison football, and Bison always had the best overall talent

some math major should come up with a formula to evaluate teams based on Coach rating and talent level of players … a smart one because it would not be an easy project and would turn into the chicken or the egg

Really? I remember hearing how a lot of those championships games where the other teams had more talented players. Seemed like SHSU, JSU, ISUr etc. had all these highly recruited FBS transfers.

they would take one talented player like that Illinois St QB that almost beat you and make it sound like they were all round more talented….

Nobody could touch the overall talent the Bison had especially in the trenches

Thats because they were developed over the years by the coaches.

ok Bison, I’m not going to try and argue with you about OL and the Bison

I still believe fans are still to weak in the knees about coaches though, I like the players much better

Not quite 51, but these SoCon Teams had >30 Players with eligibility remaining move off of their rosters between 2021 and 2022 AND a correspondingly high number of ‘new’ Players also. Samford won the SoCon. Mercer was (literally) an inch away from beating Samford and making the Playoffs. WCU, having the SoCon’s highest level of ‘roster churn,’ was much improved and expects to win their 1st ever SoCon Championship this year (they won’t, but they’ll compete for it).

Team
# of Players Departed with Eligibility Remaining
Total # of New Players

Mercer
34
59

Samford
31
49

The Citadel
41
57

WCU
42
65

FUBeAR is a big fan of roster continuity and building a great Team culture (the way Furman has done), but these numbers and results told FUBeAR there may be more than 1 way to de-fur a feline in college football today.

Feast or famine with this hire IMO.

It will either be a huge success or epic failure with Deon coaching.....no in between.

Chance Main's return to them looks like a very strong reinforcement. It should help Deion gain a foothold...

Happy to see the Buffs back in the Big 8/Big 12 framework! While I understand the university has established a strong alumni base in California, the PAC 12 never felt like a natural fit (similar to WVU in the Big 12). My hope is this decision is driven by forces that extend well beyond Coach Sanders obvious impact on Colorado's marketability. Academically, it's a well respected institution with a vast reach so the Big 12 improved its perception in that department.

I'm very much looking forward to the upcoming games between Kansas State and Colorado. This gives me added motivation to finally get to Boulder!

I watched the Colorado regent's meeting online. Short and sweet, the Buffs go to the Big 12. Now- does anyone follow them? The whole ripple effect is unknown, but it could reach all the way down to D2.

Deion will be at Colorado for at most 2 years IMO.
