What type of stadium do you like? A fully contained stadium like Washington-Grizzly , or a stadium not fully enclosed like Stambaugh Stadium?

To me, it doesn't matter, as long as the stadium fits alot of people and has no track around it.

For college football, I dislike double-deckers because it splits up the crowd. Domes are terrible (even for North Dakota). You could use the cold to your advantage like Green Bay does.

I also prefer stadiums big on the sidelines instead of all-around. I don't want to sit in the endzone if I can help it, so I'd rather sit higher up to stay on the sideline.

The kind of stadium a team has goes a long way in saying how high of a priority football is to the community. Even with a seemingly generous and supportive community its the house where they play that can guage their school spirit over the long run.

I love a stadium that exists solely as a shrine and testament to sport of football. That means having a sunken-in bowl with Sprin or Field Turf that absolutely is not used at any thing else. Yes, even if that means the track and soccer team have to eithier be sacrificed or forced to use high school facilities.

The only thing that might be better would be a dome with the best turf science can produce and money can buy. Anything else simply makes pity whoever were playing. Its sad that most teams in the FCS still don't have enough happy alumni to build true stadiums that they can be proud of. Hell, even Odessa, TX has Ratliff Stadium

I think Delaware Stadium is great for sight lines from a fan's perspective. The stands are very steep so even at the top, you have a good view of the action. The end zones are not the best place to view the game, but that is the case in almost any stadium unless you get up to a certain height above the field in the end zone area. The stands in both end zones at the stadium are short so this is not possible. I've been going togames at the stadium since I was 8 years old..... The issues I have with Delaware Stadium are:

1) it is not large enough for UD's program at this point (it met the need in 1977, but not in 2007)

2) the amenities are somewhat dated. In some sense the amenities are not a huge deal, but newer style seats for example would be nice. Overall though it is a great place to see a game.

I think Princeton's relatively new stadium looks very nice. I also enjoy the old but cool Franklin Field in Philly. I see it out the window where I work across town (work in a high rise).

Some Views of Delaware Stadium For those who have never been....

I'd take a track tomorrow, given that Georgetown has a full scholarship, top 20 ranked men's and women's track program...but no track of their own, and that's not likely to change in the forseeable future.

A great stadium is great regardless of a track. See Franklin Field.

Dome games tend to be fast paced, while outdoor games add the weather element.

Don't care too much about the all around vs. grass hill but I have a few requirements to be on my best list....

1. No domes
2. No track
3. No severely lopsided stands

Furthermore, the first row of seats should be close to the sidelines and be at least 4-6' above the playing surface.

Stadiums that meet this criteria include: Wa-Griz, Princeton, The Tub, Paulson, Johnson-Hagood, Finley, etc...

Give us a couple of years - less lopsided, real bathrooms, amazing pressbox. But I'm afraid the track will likely stay - it's too expensive to pull it out and build the seats out toward the field. Plus, since we're surrounded by mountains I don't know where you'd put it.

The track will more than likely stay since we have an awesome track team and no space to build a new one. I don't mind keeping it if our track team continues to produce championships. Not to mention, it gives the tv crews more room to operate when they broadcast our games. I want to see eith the east side expanded to resemble the west side or double deck it. Add more bathrooms and concessions and we'll be in business.

Have you folks seen that thing that Idaho passes off as a football venue???

And they're FBS... WTF?!?

But I really like Clemson's stadium. Also I like Alabama's Stadium.

I don't really like having the field house in one endzone, unless you can work seats into it... like Georgia Tech does.

On our level, I like SCSU's Stadium, Montana's Stadium, Southern's Stadium, Georgia Southern's Stadium(Before the Fieldhouse), I'm gonna like Georgetown's Stadium whenever they finish it... I like Lehigh Stadium, Layfette's Stadium, Princeton's Stadium, Harvard's Stadium(Even with the fieldhouse), Morgan State's, Yale's, McNesse State's... and a few others.

And finally, my view... double decks are fine, but I'm not a fan of overlapping decks if that makes sense. I like Clemson, but I don't exactly like Michigan State's... it should all flow together.

I don't like the field house in the end zone, unless there are seats in front of it. Like I hate UMD's Byrd Stadium and Arkansas's Stadium... but I like Georgia Tech's and North Carolina State's.

Also, if a stadium is uniquely designed, and it's a stadium that fits the school... then I will make exception to some of my rules, because of the stadium's beauty. Like I know I'm going to love Georgetown's 4,000 seat stadium when it's finished. It has a beautiful design, it's architecture will be very similar with the other buildings on campus, it's right in the middle of campus, and it is small-- consistent with the programs size and the lack of space in Georgetown. I also like Wake Forest's Stadium. Yes, I know it has a field house, but look at it, it's beautiful.

I like some large Bowl stadiums, but not all... I love love love the Rose Bowl. I really like Lambeau Field also... but I'm not a big fan of Michigan Stadium...

I know I'm all over the place, but I know what I like and what I don't.

Montana's Sidelines and endzones I like, but those corners rising above the rest of the stadium, as Adam Sandler said... "yucky."

You're one of the few people that I've heard (who weren't Southern fans) say they like Mumford. xlolx I like it but I hate sitting in the corners, due to the track you can't tell what's going on when the teams are at the far end of the field. Luckily the drinks help compensate for that. xlolx xcoolx

And since I've given my opinion on seemingly everyone else's stadium, I'll taking about Howard's "mean" Greene Stadium. It's small, old, and has a track around it... but it's really not bad at all. It fits out program, the track is only 6 lane and the sidelane stands rise above everything, so one really doesn't notice the track at all.

It's like--Stands--6 lanes-- playing field. The team benches are even on the track during games so the track acts as part of the sideline.

Also in our endzones we have temporary bleachers. Not behind the track--- but on the track, they extent from the endzone to a portion of the track. And the best thing about it is that they don't rise about the field.

The enzones sidelines are different from the team sidelines in that you don't have a football team blocking your view. So at Greene Stadium, you can sit field level on our enzone bleacher seats and watch the game without an impared view... nothing blocking you from the field and the game except a light rope... the type that banks use to create lines.

Everything is really close together, which I like.

The Band sit on opposite sides of the the field on the endzone bleachers.

I think it's great. Eventually we'll consistently sell it out and build another stadium, but until then, Greene is great.

I think out stadium is most like New Hampshire's if that makes sense... just closer together.
