Dover, Del. (Apr. 13, 2023) --- The Delaware State softball team swept a doubleheader from visiting Lincoln (Pa.) today, winning the opener 6-5 on a walk-off hit and taking game two 9-0 in five innings. In the opener, Emma Glawson laced a two-out single to left center to drive in Julianna Cerron from third base with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Cerron walked to lead off the inning and advanced to second when Mikaela Francois followed with a single to center. Cerron moved to third base on a one-out pop out to the catcher. Delaware State was ahead 5-4 when Lincoln tied the score with a run in the top of the seventh inning. The Hornets opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the first on a two-out single by Joie Raybourn. Delaware State scored three runs in the second to open up a 4-1 lead. The big hit in the inning was a two-run double by Lopez. The Hornets scored their fifth run of the game on a two-out single by Francois in the bottom of the fourth. Glawson (2-4) and Francois (2-3) were among four Hornets with two hits in the contest, joining Felicity Munoz and Britney Phally (2-3). Lopez was one for four with two runs batted in. Mayanah McIntosh tossed a complete game to earn the win for the Hornets in the opener. She allowed five hits and five runs, while striking out seven in seven innings.
