Yes Sabathia was a deserving winner even if he was out pitched in the ALCS by Beckett twice, though that had no effect on the voting.

BUT for Beckett to be left off of two voters ballots.... A TOTAL FREAKING JOKE!

Hey now, I respectively acknowledged that Sabathia was a deserving winner... But seriously Beckett being left off two ballots? Come on, even the harshest Sox hater has to admit thats bull****.

Travis, it appears that one writer left Sabathia off his/her ballot. A Boston writer, perhaps? Is that a total freaking joke, too?xcoolx

CC pitched 41 more innings than Beckett

Per ESPN talking heads that was the determining factor.

Go Tribe!

It's a nice gesture...
and will always serve as a hearty reminder that Cleveland had two great pitchers not show up for the play-offs

:p

Hows this. 18 of Sabathias starts came in division. The rank of the teams in runs scored are 3, 25, 26, 27

Meantime Beckett faced 14 starts in division the run scored rankings of the teams are 1, 15, 16, 17

Beckett for the most part had extremely similar stats facing much tougher offenses.

Sabathia faced Det (3rd) 5 times, Minnesota (25th) 5 times, KC (27th) 5 times and Chicago (28th) 3 times.

Beckett faced NY (1st) 4 times, Tampa (15th) 2 times, Toronto (17th) 3 times and Baltimore (16th) 5 times.

So now are you changing your tact and backing away from your own admission that Sabbathia was a "deserving winner" and that you're only upset about the 2 ballots that Beckett was left off of (and the one that Sabbathia was) and now saying that Sabbathia didn't deserve it? xsmiley_wix

jbarber, UNHWildat: Both of you grow the f#@k up.

Barber: If you're going to make an ingorant statement like 4/9/1865 being the "worst date ever," take your lumps. Your responses have only fueled the fire however.

UNHWildcat: Be a man and let it go. Seriously. Somebody has to take the high road, why not you?

Oh, as for the Cy Young Award... why bother anymore? Pitching is so thin these days, it's become an award for "Superior Mediocrity."

You are not seriously using Tampa Bay to support your argument are you? xnonox xnonono2x They can have a great offense, but you forget they are cellar-dwellars for a reason...

And it doesn't matter what team he faced, it matters which pitcher he faced. I know for a fact that CC beat Santana atleast 2x this year, and I think it might have been 3 times. I know he beat Verlander atleast once, both pitchers were on the Cy Young Ballot. That's 4 wins over guys on the ballot and prolly more that I just don't care enough about to research. Where are all the Yank'me pitchers on the ballot that Beckett beat?

When it comes to pitchers stats, hitting is what effects it. Sure TB has a crappy pitching staff, but that doesnt effect Becketts ERA, WHIP, K's and so on.

The only joke is the sadness of these threads you start, T. At first i thought they were hilarious. But over time, they became tiresome, which was brought up by many other posters.

The CLASSY thread to start would be one about the 2007 AL Cy Young Award, honoring the winner C.C. Sabathia. If you feel there is a need to mention a SECONDARY point in which you thought Beckett being omitted on 2 ballots was a problem, then more power to ya. But to title a thread the way you did and try to take away from the guy who won is classless.
