This was one they absolutely had to get back. Jorge is a bigtime leader in that locker room and they have no one else his caliber available or down on the farm. xbowx xnodx

This became a done deal when the Yanks guaranteed the fourth year. No one was going to go to five. But I have a feeling the last year of this deal could be a "thanks for the memories" payment. But so what? Posada is about as good as a guy as there is in baseball.

It'd be hard to imagine what the Yankees would have looked like nextseason without Posada. Though I'm not a fan, I'm glad they got him resigned. His presence will go along way towards getting things stabilized and moving forward again under the new regime.

The new youth movement! Exactly what the Yankees need, another double digit million dollar contract!

Umm, we need a catcher. As of right now, there's no one in the system that can step in and perform at a Major League level. Besides, Jorge's our guy, and we can start shifting him to 1B/DH for the last year or two of that contract. After losing A-Rod, Posada was the best power we had in the lineup.

Only teams in full-fleged rebuilding mode who with youth at every position. We've still got the young pitchers, guys like Cano and Melky in the everyday lineup, and some younger players looking to join the big club in a year or two.

The youth movement is going just fine thanks! xthumbsupx

Agreed, a youth movement can proceed even with bringing back Posada. In fact his experience will be valuable to the young pitchers.

This was an absolute must - like others have said, the Yanks don't have anyone in the organization to replace him, and the free agent catcher market isn't stocked with anyone better than Posada. He's not going to carry the Yanks or anything like that, but he was by far the best option for them at that position for the next few years.

Posada's game-calling became quite good as he matured (under the guidance of Joe Girardi). He has recieved alot of positive feedback from the veteran pitchers but more importantly, the younger pitchers. Granted, with the new back, communication is less of an issue since the big 3 of the kid pitchers are all American.

As good as Mariano is, i think Posada is the guy they need the most.

IF they can resign Rivera they may even get A-Rod back. However, to do that, Alex would have to put Boras in his place.
