According to KatFans, some folks from the BobcatFans board are calling the SHSU-TXST game, the "Texas FCS Championship Game"...
For years, Sam Houston State has been putting this 'Texas SLC Champion' bit in their release when they hit the last game of the year, traditionally against Texas State - San Marcos.
Usually, I would say that this game is for the FCS champion of the state of Texas as both schools have a win over SFA this year, but does Prairie View A&M actually come into the argument this year? If they win their final to go 7-3 this season, I think they do.
If Texas State - San Marcos wins against Sam, they'd be 5-6 on the season. In this case, PVA&M is the champion in my opinion, especially with San Marcos having that loss to a sub-Div I Texas squad in Abilene Christian.
If SHSU wins, they'd be 7-4 while PVA&M at 7-3 would have a strong argument as well. So -- who do you award it to?
Below is the Texas SLC champ with their record against other SLC foes from Texas from the SHSU football release...
