well this is my first week, i guess better late than never
St. Francis at LaSalle- St Francis 41-7
Albany at CCSU- CCSU 24-17, CCSU goes to the gridiron bowl and wins at dayton. I think they match up best against the danes and will pull out the win on senior day at arute field
Wagner at Jacksonville- Wagner 31-14
Duquesne at Monmouth- Monmouth 17-10

St. Francis at LaSalle - This could be LaSalle's last game :(
Wagner at Jacksonville - Seahawks come back with a win.
Duquesne at Monmouth - Monmouth is back on track and the Dukes will be a great member next year!
Albany at CCSU - HOMER PICK :) I'm not going to go against my team on this, but on paper it doesn't look good. UA is likely the better team, but the better team doesn't always win. For CCSU to prevail we need to get turnovers (something the Danes don't do) and convert in the Red Zone (against a very stout Albany D). The CCSU Defense of old must also return. If we can control the clock and move the ball, that should help. I like home field advantage too.
Regardless of who wins I will be rooting hard for the NEC in the GIC! I think either team would represent the conference well. :)

St. Francis at LaSalle Good showing last week at Wagner. Lasalle should lose again. Will they be back next year?
Albany at CCSU Go Danes. Need our best team in the GIC.
Wagner at Jacksonville Seahawks very inconsistent this year. They should rebound from last week's disappointment.
Duquesne at Monmouth Hawks to rebound from the Albany spanking.

ive been reading this forum for a while and finally decided to join. Yes i am a central fan. I really think we have a great shot this week against Albany. Our run defense is pretty solid except for the monmouth game, so hopefully we can shut down mccarty. we have to control the clock and throw the ball and we'll be celebrating down the streets of new britain saturday night!!

The only chance CCSU has is if you can throw the ball. But with an average of 130.4 passing yrds per game, it doesn't look likely.

I think we have a better chance other than throwing the ball. We have to play assignment football and run the ball well. Im not saying rush for 250 yards but if we can manage the game, rush for 180 and pass for 150 we have a great shot. Ccsu's special teams has been great with year the only lapse was last week, which i think the players didnt really care about. I think it will be closer than people think with ccsu pullling it out

special teams could be extremely important. CCSU has blocked about 8 kicks this year and if they get to 1 this week it could be a game changer

Therein lies the problem for Central this week. Albany has only given up 111 rushing yds per game this year (which includes 281 against Montana). Only 102 last week against Monmouth who put 300 rushing yrds up against CCSU.
Flat out, its pretty hard to run against Albany. 150 yards rushing will be a feat to accomplish.

Albany has the best punter in the league...and probably the second best place kicker (Czech is clearly number 1).
Oh...and Mike Wall is a punt block machine.
It is going to be a good one...and I am wresting with going to this or going to Albany's home basketball opener...it is a tough call.

CCSU at noon, game over by 3:30, plenty of time to get to Albany for the raising of the AE basketball banner at 7:00. That's my plan, anyway.

Depending on how early my contractor can get to my house on Saturday to meet with me, will determine whether I can make it Central or not. Its about a 2hr trip for me, so I'd have to leave by 9:30am. BTW, Bergen County contracts suck. (sorry if I offend anyone, but they do).

Remember though...I am driving from Boston, to Hartford, to Albany, back to Boston....that makes for a LOOOOONG DAY...especially since I am coming in on Wed for TDAY and the Sacred Heart game...and then back for SIENA the following week.
I am going to try!

i'll agree with the you guys have a pretty good kicker but i dont think your punter is as good as ours. He's close to 42 yards a punt and doesnt get that many chances, which means he has less chances to shank one. Wall is a pretty good punt rush guy. i remember last year he blocked one against us. i cant wait til saturday to watch this game, i'll be cheering next to the band!!!

Make it a mini-vacation in Connecticut! :)
Head down to New Britain on Wednsday to catch the Danes take on the Blue Devils in hoops (CCSU will raise its banner that night). That should be a very good game too!
Spend Thursday and Friday down at the casinos, checking out the foliage, or whatever the great state of Connecticut can offer, then drive back for the football game on Saturday.
BTW - I really like the rivalry the 2 schools have have built in football. And although we don't play in the same basketball conference, I'm glad we got this hoops series going. xthumbsupx

We played for a bit in hoops...and then we wanted a home game and Howie said no. I think the football rivalry and possibilty of CCSU in the AE has led to this game in hoops.
I wish I had A) the money and B) the time, to do the mini vacation. I may be going down to the game on Wed!

Its pretty close. Lynch averages 41 and had a boomer last week of 69 yards that went out at the Monmouth 1/2 yard line setting up a safety.
Both Rose and Lynch are very good punters.

Chris Lynch was an all-league punter last year. Stats this year:
PUNTING No. Yds Avg Long TB FC I20 Blkd
----------------------------------------------------------
Lynch, Chris 53 2168 40.9 69 5 9 14 1
CCSU STATS
PUNTING No. Yds Avg Long TB FC I20 Blkd
-----------------------------------------------------
ROSE, Chris 32 1327 41.5 62 4 0 4 1
A punter with 21 more opportunties has more of a chance at failure than a punter with less. Chris averages .6 yards less on 21 more punts. There touchbacks are about even, while the fair catches are decidedly in Lynch's favor. The key stat is the 26% of the punts placed inside the 20 for Lynch, while Rose is at a mere 12%.
They are both good...but Lynch's numbers, and year last year continued into this year, are clearly better.

i like the research on the stats xthumbsupx lynch had a great game last week i must agree. Rose's problem is the coverage team cant seem to keep the returner inside the 20 from what ive seen in the couple games ive been to. Looks like where in for a punter showdown this weekend!! hahaha

St. Francis @ LaSalle: St. Francis is a better team now than they were for most of the year and hungry for another win. NEC team rolls 38-7
Albany @ CCSU: The best of the NEC face off in New Britain. Had Albany beaten Colgate this one could mean a playoff berth for the Danes. No matter, they will still play on the 24th while the rest of the NEC is sending their equipment out for reconditioning . Albany 24-10
Wagner @ Jacksonville: The Seahawks early miscues last week vs. St. Francis cost them a very nice 8-3 season. Will now have to settle for 7-4 but it won't be easy. Wagner 24-21.
Duquesne @ Monmouth: Hawks won't let the Dukes go 4-0 vs. the NEC this year. Monmouth 31-21

St. Francis at LaSalle: I took the fellow PA squad last week on limb and they came through. I think that QB they have could turn out to be pretty good. Bit of gunslinger now but watch out.
Albany at CCSU: I would like to see Albany go undefeated in the NEC. Having seen both teams, I think Albany should be able to do so.
Wagner at Jacksonville: I really do not know much at all about Jacksonville, so, NEC for me.
Duquesne at Monmouth: Monmouth found a way to lose to RMU, Duquesne beat us. The Dukes should compete right away in the NEC next year. (I HATE PICKING THEM BY THE WAY)

St. Francis @ LaSalle I'll take the Flash, 35 - 10
UAlbany @ CCSU I will be listening on the web for this one. 28 - 17 the Danes.
Wagner @ Jacksonville The Seahawks let me down last week but I am going with them in Florida. 31 - 21.
Duquesne @ Monmouth I'll take the Hawks by 6 over the Dukes.

St Francis wins big over poor LaSalle
Monmouth is too much for the Dukes
Wagner and Jacksonville kind of a pick em. Will gp with Wagner.
Albany and CCSU- dont know what happened to CCSU last week. They played us tough the last 2 years-denying us the NEC Title in 2006. Maybe they were looking ahead. Gonna go for the upset- CCSU at home for Senior Day, cant lose 3 in row -CCSU 24 Danes 17.
