OOPS! Seems Glenn guaranteed a victory over Utah last Monday, then allowed his running back Devin Moore (not really from Wyoming xlolx) go on a smack laden hip-hop tirade about kicking Utah butt on Saturday, Utah won
50-0 Utah took exception and played..........extra intensified football (duh) and after a successful third quarter onside kick, Cowboy Joe signaled to the Utah sideline "you're #1, or FU" or something like that. xlolxxlolxxlolx

The Mountain West Conference is investigating to see if any of this really happened...........xlolxxlolxxlolxxlolxxlolx

Nah, he's just telling his team to go for 1 after their TD. What's that, they didn't...oh...never mind.

These guys beat UVA to open the season?!?

Online kick when you're up 43-0 is classless. I don't care about the gaurantee.

I agree it was a classless thing to do. Not condoning Glenns use of his middle finger either but for the Utah coach to do that is BS and he needs to be called on it.

I don't know how it was a lack of disrespect for Glenn to say that to a bunch of Wyoming students it's not like he was saying it to the press. It was unlike Glenn to do that but still.

The Utah coach is a pr!ck about the whole situation. Kicking the onside kick reminded me of something my a 10 year old does in a video game when he's pissed off at his friend. The Utah coach's behavior overshadowed Glenn's IMO.

Then again I love Joe Glenn so there could be a tiny ounce of bias.

Yeah, two sides to this for sure. The thing actually goes back to last year's game in Laramie, Wyoming won and some UW players began taunting Utah players after the game. The mouth-a-thon has been perpetuated by Wyoming RB Devin Moore, Joe needs to shut him up.

Anytime a HC speaks to anybody outside the locker room, it will be re-printed, that just needs to be accepted as fact. Joe lipped off, and let Moore trash talk on UWs behalf, so a reaction by Utah had to be expected if they were able to deliver, and they did.

Wittinghams call sucked, Joe's response was very un-Joe like, but officially it is he that is in hot water over it in the Conference.

Lot's a pressure on current UW coaches to produce winners, and champions in a conference that has every advantage on them. xnodx

Exactly (watch out Brady). Maybe Joe's reaction wasn't the best, but coaches running up the score need to be called out for it. This kind of thing is classless on Kyle Wittinghsm's part.

Don't guarantee wins Pre-Game (which is a huge form of disrespect) and then expect to be treated with class during the game...

Mountain West Conference Officials issue reprimand to Joe Glenn for his obscene gesture;

Wyoming's Glenn reprimanded for obscene gesture

Colorado Springs, CO (Sports Network) - Wyoming head football coach Joe Glenn was issued a reprimand by the Mountain West Conference on Monday.
Glenn extended his middle finger toward the University of Utah's bench and head coach Kyle Whittingham, when the Utes attempted an onside kick with a 43-0 lead during Utah's 50-0 win in Salt Lake City on Saturday.
The action was in violation of the Mountain West Conference's sportsmanship rule 4.3.3. Since Glenn was a first-time offender, only a reprimand was handed out according to conference rules.
Glenn met with the Cowboys on Sunday to apologize for his actions, and released a statement on Monday elaborating on the rationale for the gesture.

Meh, coach said team would win. Maybe he just thought he'd give Utah a 43 point cushion and then come back. Just trying to prevent that from happening.

Your point is very well taken. Blame exists on both sides, but the biggest mistake, IMO, was Glenn not telling his loud mouth player(s) to STFU, and let him do the media releases. Yes he guaranteed a victory, but it was amongst a smack-a-thon carrying over from last year and very largely perpetuated by Wyoming rap-smack king, RB Devon Moore. Should have been muzzled, IMO.

So why should a coach, obviously miffed at the circumstances, be chastised if he does something as simple as an onsides kick up 43-0 instead of taking a clean, pristine, pansy high road? If anything, he's saying to the opposing coach to shut his players up. He didn't tell his players to hurt the other team. He just wanted to hurt their ego a bit, which the Wyoming players definitely needed. We've got a mentality that those stupid kids in grade school had, yap, yap, yap, and when someone responds and hits back, he goes crying to teacher.

EDIT: Anyone got the correct code to do strikeout here?

I am from Wyoming, and I agree with you more than the Wyoming side of the feud. xpeacex

I'm with Cleets and I Bleed Purple: you can't "guarantee" a win and then complain about having it run up on you. That onside kick would have been out of line without the pre-game smack but Joe's uncharacteristic "guarantee" was unsportsmanlike and changed the equation.

And they have both publicly apologized. Glenn had to, Wittingham was getting enough bad publicity for the on side attempt, that he said he regretted calling it.

I think it was the worst week in his coaching life. I suspect there are pressures building on him, the "Brown and Gold" booster club has demonstrated their ignorance many times in the past. If they fire him, will be the biggest mistake they have made, including letting Joe Tiller go. xnodx
