Gainesville, Fla. (Feb. 18, 2023) – Delaware State was held to four singles in an 8-0 loss to Central Michigan on day two of the University of Florida T-Mobile Tournament today. The game was called after CMU scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning due to the eight-run rule. The Hornets fell to the Chippewas for the second straight game to fall to 2-3 this season. CMU starter Madelyn Wallace pitched the first five innings, blanking the Hornets on four hits, striking out five without allowing a walk. Michaleigh Vallimont was three for four with a triple and three RBI to lead Central Michigan's 15-hit attack. Valeria Santos Ramos, Joie Raibourn, Chandler Martin and Julianna Cerron each singled for the Hornets. Ramos also recorded a stolen base. Starter Sydney Hoffman allowed eight runs on eight hits to take the loss for Delaware State. The Hornets will wrap up tournament play against host Florida on Sunday at 2 p.m.
