They might not play each other in the 2nd round, but is there any reason they won't make it to the quarter-finals of the playoffs?

Not for UNI, but if SIU gets sent to Montana I see upset potential based on the way SIU handled playing at the UNI dome this year.

If both Montana and UNI win out, they'd likely be on opposite sides of the bracket. UNI should be able to wrap up the 1 seed by going 11-0, and it sounds like most folk figure Montana on getting a 2 or 3 seed. That would mean no possible matchup until the championship game.
Though if the committee decides to factor in Montanas GPI or SOS, then they might give them a 4 seed, which would mean a semifinal matchup.
Or Montana could lose to IdSU or MtSU to knock them to the 4 seed or unseed them. And of course, UNI could stumble (and a loss to either InSU or SUU would definitely hurt their seeding). And of course, either team could lose in the early rounds of the playoffs, as was mentioned by others.

RE/MAXGriz

I think even if the Griz lose to Montana St this weekend they'll probably be positioned to play at the #4 or #3 seed in the 2nd round rather than in UNI. They would be 10-1 and not 8-3 or 7-4 like these handful of CAA and Southern Conf teams that will get at-large bids.
Someone earlier asked if either of these teams could not make it to the quarter finals, and I think that just about every single year there's upsets and usually some of the best teams in the regular season get bumped out earlier than expected. For example, in 2004 SIU was supposed to be the most incredible (then) 1-AA team ever and EWU beat them in the 1st round - then on the same day New Hampshire beats #4 seed GSU, which opened the door for Montana to keep hosting games all thru the playoffs.
Really, anything can happen, because it usually does. I think last year with the semi finals having the top 4 seeds was probably a lot more rare than having semis with at least half the teams playing in it not being seeded.

Yeah, that is one bone of contention that I have about that game; single coverage by a #3 Billy Ivey out of West Covina, Calif., a one-year letter winner, supposedly, and a senior that year. Whom I had never even had heard about before that game.
Had a pass interference call on Marshall's first offensive play, a pass by Eric Kresser towards Moss, and seven plays later the first of four TDs by Moss.

I remember that play. Kresser dropped back and unloaded a bomb. Then as the camera pans downfield, you see Randy Moss standing there waiting for the ball...one thousand one, one thousdand two, then Ivey finally catches up to Moss right after the ball got there.

How can you define THE best griz player. Many greats have walked onto that field, and although Dickenson seems to stand out, his greatness is so great because he kick started a great tradition. What about Humphrey and Bierman and Petek and Edwards and all of the others. So many greats, let's not just define one.
