1st and 3rd base coaches will be wearing some type of protection begining next season..

Smart move considering the coaches are standing in prime "line drive/foul ball" territory.
They need to make it a rule in all baseball..............MLB, College, and Highschool. xthumbsupx

I was kind of thinking of bats or broken bats but foul balls do also pose a serious threat.

I always think of Tommy Lasorda (sp) taking that bat and falling over as 3rd base coach.

Indeed. A Colorado Rockies minor league coach was killed this year from a foul ball, thats what led to this.

ya his two kids tosse out a first pitch at game 3 of the NLDS i thinl coulda been the NLCS though. The team also voted his family a full playoff share.

The ball hit him in the neck area and ruptured an artery.

I don't watch a lot of baseball. I guess it takes something bad to happen before changes occur.
