Newark, N.J. (Feb. 4, 2023) --- MEAC rival got a measure of revenge for a loss to Delaware State last week, topping the Hornets 75-65 at the Michael B. Jordan led HBCU Legacy Classic at the Prudential Center today. Kamron Hobbs came off the bench to lead all players with 24 points on nine-for-15 shooting from the field, including four-of-eight on three-point shots, for the Bears. Reserve Khyrie Staten led three double-figure scorers for Delaware State with 17 points. Brandon State and Martaz Robinson added 16 points each for the Hornets. The loss snapped a three-game win streak for Delaware State, its longest since the 2016-17 season, which fell to 4-17 overall this season. Morgan State snapped a two-game skid to improve to 12-11 overall. A consolation for the Hornets is the game did not count in the MEAC standings. Delaware State was plagued by 21 turnovers in the contest, leading to 29 points for Morgan State. "Morgan did a good job of speeding up the pace from last week's game, forcing us into numerous turnovers and rushed shots," said Delaware State head coach Stan Waterman. "It's tough to win a game with that many mistakes, but we'll learn from the experience and work to finish strong this season. I also want to thank the Legacy Classic for the amazing experience and the opportunity to represent Delaware State and all HBCUs on such a grand scale."
