Dover, Del. (Jan. 15, 2023) --- Delaware State's Malcom Garbutt (so.; Elkins Park, Pa.) was spotlighted on a CBS News New York feature on the 2023 HBCU Track & Field Showcase in the Big Apple this weekend. The Hornet men's and women's indoor track and field teams were among more than 30 from HBCU's throughout the country competing in the prestigious event in the Nike Track and Field Center at The Armory in Washington Heights. The Delaware State men were second overall among 16 teams, finishing ahead of four other MEAC squads and defending Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) champion Prairie View A&M in the HBCU event. Among the highlights for the Hornet women at the HBCU Showcase was a first-place finish by defending MEAC indoor champ Annalise Bond in the pole vault with a winning jump of 3.21 meters (10 feet 6.25 inches).
