Georgetown's NEVER played Howard in football?

Ok, I'll put on my American History hat and given the political climes, perhaps partially understand why up until the 1960s or so the schools woudln't have played - but now what's the excuse???

Heck, even Harvard "slummed it" and played NU for 4 years in the 2000's. We've offered to renew for 4 more years all at Harvard, but we were told, TBNT.

Holy Cross and NU didn't play for a long time before rekindling the rivalry in 2006 - the Crusaders play @ NU in 2009 and rumor has it NU returns to Fitton in 2011 and HC plays us in Boston in 2013.

Wow, Georgia seems like it has so few compared to it's neighbors. NC has 13? Florida has a bunch (6 I-A teams, plus however many I-AA), South Carolina has quite a few too.

Maybe with Valdosta, West Georiga, and potentially Kennesaw and Georgia State, that will all change.

To be honest I like having fewer D-1 schools. More recruits for us! :D

Other than Brown, URI, and soon Bryant, the only other football school in Rhode Island is DIII Salve Regina. Providence College plays at the DI level, but they dropped football a long time ago.

There is Gannon and Mercyhurst as well in the Erie Pa area. They are private schools, but will soon be joining the PSAC for play. Mansfiled a D-II PA state school just dropped football this winter so there was one more.

Ok---I admit, the "persons per school" was what I was thinking when I started this thread. I was feeling pretty good that my ASU Apps have been drawing in 27,000 per game while competing with 13 other D I schools for fans. But the population stat for the State of Montana is pretty impressive too--congrats for supporting your teams! It will be VERY interesting to see how the other states stack up. Thanks to the AGS reader for supplying the info!

When you mean persons per school, do you mean student populations, or metro populations for the towns that the colleges are in? Or both?

See, you opened a whole can of worms! :p

And I can't look up the smaller Iowa schools...I've got some homework I'm laboring over. :(

Louisiana Division I Football Schools
Louisiana State
Louisiana-Lafayette
Louisiana-Monroe
Louisiana Tech
Tulane
Northwestern State
Grambling State
McNeese State
Southern
Nicholls State
Southeastern Louisiana

11 Total; 5 FBS; 6 FCS

And it's really sad that more of these teams don't play each other on a regular basis. Lafayette should rotate McNeese and Southern; Tulane should rotate Southeastern and Nichols; La Tech should rotate Northwestern and Grambling; ULM should rotate Grambling and La Tech

I would like Gram to play either La Tech, ULM or ULL each year plus one Southland conference member. That would leave us space for two other FCS Division team (one of which I would like to see from the MEAC).
