Washington, D.C. (Jan. 7, 2023) --- Marcus Dockery scored a game-high 19 points to lead Howard to an 84-64 victory over Delaware State in the 2022-23 MEAC opener for each team at Burr Gym today. The Bison won for the fourth time in their last five games to improve to 8-9 overall this season, while the Hornets dropped their 12th straight to fall to 1-13. O'Koye Parker came off the bench to lead Delaware State with 13 points, highlighted by three-of-five shooting on three-point shots. Parker is now 21-for-39 from beyond the arc this season (.538). Martaz Robinson added 11 points, while Ray Somerville led all players with seven rebounds for the Hornets. Howard hit 16 of its 26 first half shots, and led 4-33 at the break. Delaware State was outscored 43-31 in the final 20 minutes. The Hornets return to action on Mon. (Jan. 9) for their 2022-23 MEAC home opener against defending conference champ Norfolk State. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m., following the DSU/ NSU women's game at Bayhealth Court in Memorial Hall.
