I really have never cared if we are better than UNI because I think it's impossible to tell and it is because we will never play. But I do have to say this: How can UNI have a better QB?

Walker was 15-23 for 233 yards and 2TD. A quarterback really doesn't have to do much when you have 416 yards rushing.

Game Illinois State vs. UNI

UNI's Mr. Sanders stats 16-26 for 166 yards INT, 2 TD

I just want to know why UNI has a better quarterback?

This debate will be about as pointless as which team is better.....

But I do believe there was anther thread the other day about what is your team missing....as far as if you could have any other player in I-AA...who would it be.

IF UNI also had your LB Mays......UNI's Front 7 would be Silly good.....xbowx

I would take Ramses Barden from Cal Poly, be nice to have a big time reciever even though ours are pretty good. His the only big time reciever I've seen, but being stuck in the midwest I'm sure there are some good ones from the East

Didn't know about the injury to Sanders during the ISU game, thats pretty impressive then-a game winning drive

It seems like Sanders is getting pretty beat up this year. Maybe you should let him rest against Indiana State.

That Kye Stewart from Illinois State was something else last night. I was also pretty impressed with how ISU's offensive line played.

And, yeah, for the guy who said the FargoDome's announcer was being an annoying homer, there has been some comment about that in Fargo. NDSU's beat reporter mentioned it and I was puzzled with the announcer giving out the stats too.

Thanks for the analysis. For the last two year everyone keeps says that NDSU is not fast enough, and NDSU just keeps on winning. I don't know how they do it.

IF NDSU wanted to throw the ball more I think Walker's stats would be huge. However, NDSU has taken the run first, balanced offensive attack which has proven to be quite effective.

Walker was 15-23 for 233 yards and 2TD. He really didn't have to do much when his running backs got 416 yards rushing.

Illinois State vs. UNI
UNI's Mr. Sanders stats 16-26 for 166 yards INT, 2 TD

I just want to know why UNI has a better quarterback?--never seen him so I want to know?

vs Western Illinois (with both teams on the road, perhaps a more accurate comparison than comparing one qb on the road outdoors and one qb at home in the dome)

Walker 13-21 (62%, the same % that you claim was inferior vs ILSU)

Sanders 8-8 (100%, it literally cannot get any better than that.)

Eric Sanders is completing 76.6% of his passes this year. He goes on stretches of 15-20 throws at a time without an incompletion. Walker is 71.6. That means for every one hundred passes thrown Sanders completes 5 more than Walker.

Look, I am in no way trying to knock Walker's performance. He is one heck of a quarterback. Just in MY OPINION not as good as Sanders. We will have another opportunity to compare against SDSU in two weeks. But, just to let you know what kind of stats you are up against:

Sanders vs SDSU
27-32 for 330 yards.

However. I believe this will be a rivalry game for you so I don't expect Walker to be as effective. Then again, I would bet that in his career he has NEVER been that effective.

One more thing, what is up with you claiming to be 1/2, even on your teams website? Most people use the Sports Network Poll and then just deal with it. When we were number one in the coaches poll we didn't call ourselves the number 1/2 team in the country. We were number two, we owned it, we didn't try to look for the only poll that had us at number one and try to use it to promote how good we were.

The Fargo media has used the coaches poll since NDSU's first season competing in I-AA. NDSU is probably using both now after the media starting receiving solicitations from UNI's SID for #1 votes in the Sports Network poll.

This debate is like my dad can beat up your dad crap. Without seeing both it's really just a stats thing and in that you will never see Walkers best ability which is his performance under pressure. The guy has ICE in his veins. I only wish the two teams could compete on the field to prove which is the best but it is what it is. Regarding the comment about being number one why the insecurity about your ranking? Your going to get your chance to prove your worth in the playoffs something NDSU cannot do. Are you worried some will speculate if you win it all who would really be better? NDSU fans won't hang on that ranking and claim a championship by vote so don't worry. We can however be proud that in some polls we are ranked #1 and I see nothing wrong with that. Go win in the playoffs and you will get the FCS championship if your worthy of it.xcoffeex

It's like comparing apples and oranges, different team, different offensive plays, different receivers, different coaches, different opponents, different other shiat. Walker plays well in the Bison scheme, Saunders plays well in the UNI scheme. UNI fans will claim Saunders is better, NDSU fans will claim Walker is better.

Just making an observation. It's been a weird couple of seasons, that's for sure.

If we finish the season 11-0 I see us #2 in the end of regular season polls and no better than #3 in the final polls. 2008 preseason...anywhere in the top 5.

Walker vs Ball State....451 passing yards, 3 TD, 29-46, 0 INTS

Walker won't have those stats against SDSU. What Walker has over Saunders is the ability to control the field even when he isn't passing. He is a true FIELD GENERAL. Clutch QB, comeback kid. It all doesn't rely on stats. Does he stay composed when down and out, step it up when he needs to. Thread the needle passing the ball. Does he WIN....he sure as hell does.

Illinois State offensive line was very good. I think we had a couple of sacks, but overall they kept the pressure off more than most teams this year and Drone had plenty of time to throw. However, the Bison offense was a huge miss match for Illinois State so it really didn't matter.

walker had a great day throwing a few unbelievable passes.

his line read 22-15-0-233-2-44-0

four passes were flat out dropped by our receivers (man it's tough to catch a ball when it hits you right in both hands!)

only two drives out of twelve led by walker ended on 4th down

sanders may be better, but he would have to play like john elway week in and week out to justify a claim like yours.

Apparently "most people" doesn't include the NCAA who has only the coaches FCS poll on they're website or ESPN as the worldwide leader referred to NDSU as the top ranked team in the FCS several times during the coverage and analysis of the NDSU/Minnesota game.

There is nothing wrong with promoting a #1 ranking in a major poll and being proud of it. It is even more of a boon for Bison fans since our team doesn't have the opportunity to prove it themselves in the playoffs and until NDSU in not ranked #1 in either the Sports Network or Coaches poll I will continue to cheer for and refer to my team as the #1 ranked Bison.

UNI and NDSU would be an interesting matchup this year. The strength of the Bison lies in their running game and that goes against the heart of a run-stuffing UNI defense.

Actually the hallmark of the #1 ranked NDSU BISON is balance. Its true we score a little more on the ground and do rush for a few more yds than we get through the air, but if the run is stopped Walker will win it with his arm.

Ask the Central Michigan Chippewas. Walker put up 261 yds passing against a team that made it tough to rush, at least for a while. I think the same would happen to UNI.

The Redbirds may have had a little more gas in the tank when UNI squeaked by with a 10 pt win but the comparative scores of the common opponent lead me to believe NDSU is the best team in the land.

Can you really compare scores from common opponents? Sure it's fun for this stuff, but the only way to prove if one team is better then the other is for them to play.

Example:
Kansas State wins at #7 Texas 41-21
Texas wins at Iowa State 56-3

So that means ISU will lose to Kansas State?

No, ISU wins 31-20

But I suppose I can use that logic to say UNI is better then Texas. :-) Yeah, I'll do that!

Because in the eyes of many Bison fans, including myself, we view NDSU as the best FCS football team in the country and we consider a #1 ranking in any major poll this early in our transition to be a tremendous accomplishment and something to be proud of. NDSU also does not have the playoffs to look forward to so recognition in the polls is the greatest metric of their seasonal accomplishments. I could argue til I'm blue in the face about who is better between NDSU and UNI but the bottom line is both teams have legitimate claims to be considered as the #1 team in the land and, as of now, both fan bases can legitimately claim that they're team is #1.
