I take it that "half the distance" doesn't apply on defensive pass interference penalties.
I believe Curtis Meier got moved up to the starting safety position, not Nick Nelson. Though Nelson should get some playing time

This is not being a sore loser or anything, but....
UNI is FULL of thugs. TONS of dirty, dirty play/middle fingers to the crowd/late hits/the list could go on. But what ticks me off the most, our student section had a big picture of Farley blown up, all in fun. When the game was over, two of the 'thugs' came over and completely tore up the picture. Absoulty terrible and I hope they get disciplined for it.
Other than that, UNI you showed why you were #1, you have a great team and your fans travel awesome compared to the rest of the gateway teams.

If that's true, it's the first time it's happened all year. So I would have to think your players/fans played a part it bringing it out.

I was in the student section and remember some "slurs" being yelled by some students down to some guy on the sideline (wearing loafers, baseball cap, sunglasses). If that is (or is not) you, then here's a tip: If you don't want to get harassed by the home-school's students, you probably shouldn't taunt them. It should be expected that if someone heckles the opposing students, the students are probably going to heckle back.
Like I said, I don't know if that was you, but there was only one guy that I can remember on the UNI sideline who was singled out by the students.

You guys have a nice stadium, a nice campus, and nice fans. In fact the entire city of Springfield was nice. To me, it is somewhat similar to Cedar Rapids in terms of size and feel.
The only thing I couldn't understand is how a school as big as Missouri State (over 20,000 correct?) in a city as big as Springfield can't manage to get more student fans to the game to see their team take on the number one team in the nation.
I mean UNI has 12,000 students and we can get at least 2,000 if not up to 4,000 for big games like SIU. That is a third of the entire student body!

MSU draws very well for mens and women's bball. Its a matter of product on the field and their fans have been subjected to some very poor football over the last few years. Things are looking better, though.

The announcers on TV kept talking about how hard TA is working to get people to support the football program. MSU is kind of a bball school that also has a football program. Even though the football program is gaining they're still kind of like Duke in that people focus on the bball team.

The announcers on TV kept talking about how hard TA is working to get people to support the football program. MSU is kind of a bball school that also has a football program. Even though the football program is gaining they're still kind of like Duke in that people focus on the bball team.
We will never draw for football. Not now, not when/if we become good. Students dont find it exciting enough and never turn out.

For the majority of the fans in our state and region, Big 12 football is king. The schools closet to us our all FBS - Mizzou, KU, Arkansas, K-State, Tulsa, OK State, etc. Throw in the fact that we havent been good in a while = not very good attendance. I think the more winning we get, the more fans will show, just alot of people are still not sure of Bears football yet.

According to official breakdown of 2006 enrollment at UNI,
of the 12,260 students:
7,124 were female (58%)
5,136 were male (42%)
And for MSU's 2006 enrollment breakdown,
of the 19,218 students:
10,972 were female (57%)
8,246 were male (43%)
Of course, particular departments/majors had more heavily skewed percentages, but overall UNI has a slightly higher female-to-male ratio.

I agree, i used to live in CR until moving down here 15 years ago. CR has seen a lot of development just like Springfield has in that time period.

Springfield is a deciving type of city. It has that small town look and the city's itself is only about 120k or so but the metro area is around 500k, which is more like a Tulsa or Wichita.

Oh yeah! I forgot about that guy. What a douche. Who does that?
After pointing to the scoreboard, etc. you are open to any heckling done by the student section. Espciailly if you aren't even a player.

Overall MSU showed well..in the FIRST HALF....
The Defensive intensity caught UNI off guard..throughout the game....
Unfortunately the MSU Offense could NOT match the MSU Defensive intensity....
Some 'untimely' Offensive mistakes and questionable official calls....left the MSU Defense depleted as the game came to an end......
Thats Its Thats All

Questionable official calls?xconfusedx Is that what led to under 20 yards of total offense in the 2nd half for the Bears?xeyebrowx Seriously, it was UNI that had several personal fouls and other "questionable" calls whistled on us. For goodness sake, the officials had absolutely NOTHING to do with the outcome Saturday. UNI was a far superior squad on the field. I will never understand how officials can be even mentioned after a blow out...xcoffeex

But it didn't really determine the outcome of the game at all.

"Unfortunately the MSU Offense could NOT match the MSU Defensive intensity...."
My statement of "'untimely' Offensive mistakes and questionable official calls...."
Was NOT meant as a comparative statement of UNI's behavior or character on the field or MSU's character or behavior on the field for that matter.....
UNI's 'behind got 'tapped'..thats what the MSU Defense came to do..and they did it....
Unfortunately the MSU Offense peetered out....
You cant make mistakes against good teams....that simple
'far superior'..is a stretch.....
'more experienced players' ....'depth in key positions'....sounds a bit more appropriate

I dont believe anyone nor myself is suggesting the officiating determined the outcome of THIS PARTICULAR game...they influenced it certainly...thats what officials do...they make judgement calls..some correct...some incorrect
thats football life.....
Personally, I thought it was a great game. That 1st half was shaping up for something great the 2nd half, but It never happened.
My hats off to the MSU Defense and Coach Vokolek...he had them primed and ready xbowx

I'll stick with far superior. That was men against boys out there in Springfield on Saturday. Giving up 272 yards rushing and 471 total yards of offense is your defense "tapping" something??xeyebrowx Honestly, it's great that there are some optimistic Bear fans again with TA in town, but let's be realistic.xcoffeex

Don't worry Bear fans. I think #1 has gotten to some UNI heads lately. I can guarantee that UNI fans were a tad nervous about the game going into halftime, I know I was. The Bears stepped it up on defense and made the plays they had to on offense. Then the talent of UNI took over.

Technically, UNI is in Cedar Falls which is an hour north of Cedar Rapids, but that is neither here nor there.
But, I can see why certain fans are getting irritated with certain UNI fans (notice the usage of the word "certain"). Granted I don't see why people take it so personally. Missouri State fans (or any opposing team) isn't going to bow down to the greatness that is UNI football, nor should they have to. But, as the number team in the nation, UNI has every right to brag a little and enjoy the success.
