Sorry, had to start the pre-game Friday night. The son has special olympics bowling in the morning and the game begins at 11:00 AM out here. Makes it pretty tight.

Vikings head to Missoula to take on the Grizzlies of the University of Montana. Portland State has not won at Montana since 1987, therefore has not beaten the Griz since joining the conference in 1996. Thanks to his record breaking performance last week, Drew Hubel will get his second career start this week, with Brian White able to play and listed as second string. Mouse Davis of course has faced Montana, but back then the Griz played at the old Dornblaser Field. This is Glanville's first trip to Wash-Griz and probably interesting to hear his take on the facilities and the fans.

Kickoff scheduled for 12:00 noon MDT (still daylight time), 11:00 PDT.

Griz D is good. It's getting better. The only way that the Montana D will not meet expectations is in wild predictions like this. There is no way that UM D will keep the Flying Elvis's scoreless. They will give up 8 less than Montana scores.

Wouldn't wish to insult you with a carrot on a stick. It's like taking into consideration the stem of the word "competition".. 'to seek together;' whether by athletic teams or whomever, and what is sought is VICTORY!!!...by both participants. No need to shallow such endeavors with a mere 'sense' of superiority condescending.

What I am talking about is the fact we essentially waste a series right before the half by being way too predictable - we did the same against NAU last weekend and they scored 3.

On our last series before the last Vik TD, we ran two run plays when Portland had stacked the box, then our receiver wasn't paying attention on 3rd when the obvious blitz was on. Wasted series.

Its like our version of the prevent defense, but on offense!

That was a crazy game! Cole and Hubel both got roughed up big time! Griz OC left him hanging and Cole stood in there and delivered when he knew he was going to get rocked! We need a different OC he doesn't inspire much and is not creative! we still have trouble adjusting when they stack the box! That's a risky D and we need to exploit it more often! another win baby! I did say the team that had the ball at the end of the game won. Had PSU, who was down 3 points, had the ball at the end, there is a chance, not a big one, but still a chance, they could have scored a TD and won, but the Griz had the ball at the end and the lead, so they won.

It was a hard fought game and the best team won, so cool your jets and save your fire for the playoffs, that is where we will see if the Griz have true metal of a champion or merely the benefactors of what many call a "WEAK CONFERENCE AND A SOFT OOC SCHEDULE.

We have another great recruit in Kramer Hagen ,who if his verbal commitment holds, we snatched from under the very noses of Sacremento State.

Don't forget the Kavanaugh kid who led Portland's Lincoln High to the 6A state championship game, the first PIL team to do that since Bobby Moore (now Ahmad Rashad) led Jefferson back in the 70's. Kavanaugh quarterbacked the North in the Shrine Game opposite Hubel who quarterbacked the South.

LATE props to the Vikings -- you guys stayed in the game no matter what!!

On a side note, my girlfriend went to HS with Hubel in Corvallis. When I was watching the game yesterday morning she became very interested once she saw who PSU's QB was.

I did say the team that had the ball at the end of the game won. Had PSU, who was down 3 points, had the ball at the end, there is a chance, not a big one, but still a chance, they could have scored a TD and won, but the Griz had the ball at the end and the lead, so they won.

It was a hard fought game and the best team won, so cool your jets and save your fire for the playoffs, that is where we will see if the Griz have true metal of a champion or merely the benefactors of what many call a "WEAK CONFERENCE AND A SOFT OOC SCHEDULE.

Not true, no matter how many say it. Big Sky is not, nor could it ever be classified as a "weak" conference. People who want to say that have no clue what they are talking about. It is just a tired excuse to try to keep the Big Sky down and more discussion about teams like Yale up.
