I've only eaten at Raising Cane's once, but I liked it. Just a Guthrie's or a Zaxby's with a different name, in my opinion. They're all good.

Over the last three days, Ed Reed sowed the seeds of his own demise. He was not a good representative of the school of to its students.

He doesnt have the smarts or demeanor to be a head coach. Obviously

Zaxby’s not on the same planet as Cane’s. Not remotely close to the same.

Zaxby's tastes like an electrical fire smells. I haven't hit every chicken joint in America but I feel confident that Zaxby's is the worst.

Canes is buying/leasing real estate for some whacked out numbers. For those of you that know the closed Chilis and what was next to it On the Border? on Rt 301 in Bowie MD, they paid $6.5M for that site! Canes also under construction in Crofton MD on Rt 3 median and on Rt 301 in Waldorf MD. I have had Zaxbys before and not impressed. About a year ago a recuiter for them reached out to me for a Real Estate Manager position in Northeast but never heard anything more about it or their foray into the Northeast. Trying to conjure whether there are more chicken chains going up or auto wash facilities at this point in time??

A good investment. They average $2.5 million per store annually selling almost nothing but chicken fingers.

they might get one in Puerto Rico in 25 years but I was recently introduced to a Raising Canes in Newport News area, it was good enough

A&T hired Elon’s WR Coach Chris Young as our OC. He was the Colgate OC for the 2018 team that beat James Madison in the Playoffs.

UNI lost our OL coach to Iowa State

He was instantly replaced with Rick Nelson who led the OL from 01-15

Farley has also fired basically the entire defensive staff, which makes sense given what we had last year.

DC Randall McCray was demoted halfway through the season and Farley took over play calling - and the defense improved greatly at that point.

Safety/DB coach Benny Sapp Jr wasn't retained, though it was assumed by most everyone he was only on staff as long as his son was playing and with his son graduating it makes sense he isn't coming back.

LB coach Griffin McCarley was also let go. He has been replaced already by Keelon Brookins who has spent time at UNI in the past as a player, GA, and an assistant that has done RB, DB, and was the recruiting coordinator. He left to go to Kent State last year with our long time DC. Kent State had a coaching change so he is back.

Have 2 slots to fill. Will be interesting to see what happens with it.

Good call. I didn't realize McCray had suckered anyone else into letting him "coordinate" a defense. His defenses at G-Webb weren't coordinated at all.

He did amazing things with the special teams. He was moved from DC to focusing largely on special teams and it made a MASSIVE difference after that. We were running kickoff plays and doing different things with ball placement and coverages.

However, I assume he wasn't too thrilled with the change and didn't really care to stay as a position/ST guy. Likewise, Mark had lost trust in him and once Mark loses trust in an assistant it is over for them.

The thought was with the talent we were going to have back on defense this past year all he'd need to do is guide the ship, so to speak. Plus, it's defense at UNI. How do you make it bad? It's never bad. Turns out he made it bad.

How the heck can someone do both jobs, as well as do them well? Ridiculous.

wow. Wonder how that compares to prior 5-10 years. Seems like above average turnover.

Not really. It tends to fluctuate between 15-25 openings every year. 2021 (the COVID year) was an extreme outlier.

FCS coaching changes by year (last ten years)

2022 22
2021 6
2020 15
2019 26
2018 24
2017 15

Interesting. I guess a 20% turnover every year is to be expected in a division that has a lot of "lily pad" schools that are used for those trying to move up the ladder for a brass ring!

Toreros poach Brandon Moore from D-II Colorado School of Mines.

Alongside Sammy McCorkle at Dartmouth, they are the last two FCS coaching vacancies filled for this coming season. (Teevens/McCorkle transition is still not on Craig Haley's vacancy list)
