Chattanooga played as far back as the early 1890's...but back in those days, you would have faculty sometimes play too. So 1904 was used as our first season of true collegiate football.
First win...Oct. 29th, 1904...Chattanooga 17, Grant 0
(Grant University was also known, seriously, as the Athen (TN) Campus of the University of Chattanooga)
So, our first win, we beat up on our little brother.
(for those history buff in the East Tennessee area, from 1904 to 1925 Tennessee Wesleyan College was the Athens School of the University of Chattanooga...apparently they liked it about as much as UC liked being pushed into the UT System xsmhx )

Did you not win a game between that tie and that win, or did you just not play regularly?
For JMU:
1973
JMU 34
Anne Arundel CC (MD) 8
1972 was the first season for JMU football, they went 0-4-1 that year, playing 0-0 versus the Hampden-Sydney JV squad

Where did you get your information? The NDSU Media Guide?
UND's first win came against "Grand Forks City" on 10/22/1894 with a final score of 54-6.

1881 Richmond 3 - Randolph Macon 0, actually beat them twice that year, by identical 3-0 scores. They were the only team Richmond played for the first two or three years.

Dayton went 0-3 that first season back in 1905, losing to Riverdale, 6-5, and Tippecanoe High School twice, 11-0 and 36-5. ( Rumor at the time was that even Notre Dame was afraid to play THS, but not the Flyers )xrolleyesx
The winning tradition began in 1906 when we soundly defeated Germantown Academy, (PA), 29-0! ( By the way, Germantown Academy is still around today ).
1906 was a "banner" year for the Flyers as we went 5-1-0! The only loss was to that traditional powerhouse, Oakwood AC, (OH). Victories were secured over Dayton YMCA, Dayton Alumni, Wittenburg, and Hamilton AC. For the season, the Flyers only gave up a total of 11 points, ( all to powerhouse Oakwood AC in the loss ). No other opponent scored on the Flyers in 1906!
