I know that the defense's job is to stop the offense. But I have to question Mike Ayres and Wofford and their class in this game. You have a terribly outmanned Western team down 28-0. WCU hasn't been able to stop Wofford yet and can't get out of their own way on offense, and Ayres fakes a FG when they are up 28-0? On their next possession Wofford calls a TO with less than 20 seconds left and then throws about a 40 yard halfback pass to set up a FG to go up 37-3?

If you ask me that is running up the score where it is not needed. I am impressed with Wofford's team, but I find myself rooting against them because of these antics. As I said, I know that it is the defense's job to stop the offense, but there is apoint where decency steps in. If it were a better team than WCU, or if you had your 2nd or 3rd string in I might be abole to rationalize these calls, although a fake FG and a TO and halfback pass at the end of the half is hard to rationalize.

WCU gave up 2 TDs on mistakes but the rest of this game has not been a blowout. Take those away and its 23-10. Add on the WCU TD they missed at the one then its 23-17. Obviously that's conjecture but still the point is to get really comfortable they need to score some more.

Most teams that are bad are "second half" teams. The reasaon is that they score after the other team has pulled their starters. This year for the most part hasn't been different for Western. GSU had them by a huge score (50- 0 or so) before they started scoring; Chatt had them 25-0 at half, EKU had the by about 25 to 30 points before they started scoring, the same for Citadel. They were blown out by both the FBS teams. The only game they were in was Elon and they scored most of their points in the first half.

So what if he was. How does that make any difference? He is trying to do what is best for his team in the overall scheme of things. I don't think that is what he was doing as I think he was just trying to win the game but whatever his motivation was it turned out better than if good guy texcap had been coaching the team as they would have certainly lost with the wimpy approach to the game.

To be honest, even when we were up big at half, I didn't feel safe.

WCU took Elon to the wire, and took the Citadel to the wire. They are a second half team and never give up. They are not winning, but they are not a bad team.

We got the W, and that is the thing to hold on to. We better bring our A game next week against Ga So, and then at Chatty.

I agree with the sportscasters-- we better quit playing Widmyer right now so much. Collier moves the team. Period.

The SoCon is fun this year. A team with 2 defeats can easily win it.

I keep hearing alot of people saying that if we go 8-3,5-2 we don't have a chance to get an at large. I say that is bull. If App were to go 8-3, 4-3 and gets a bid, we with one more win, and deafeating Appy we would have to get in. However, money does talk and they still would would put 30k fans in the stands.

I've been to enough Wofford games that this is not surprising.

I was in the stands when we blew a 41-7 lead against Newberry to end in a 41-41 tie. I was there when we blew a 35 point lead against Gardner-Webb in 2005 only to come from behind to win.

Running up the score is directly proportional to the length of time left in the game. If one team can score 37 in a half, then so can the other. No lead is safe with two full quarters left to play.

Nah, with the big lead we put in the backups but the backups stunk and we ended up putting the 1st string back in. They scored so they put the 2nd string back in who once again stunk so they had to put the 1st string back in to save the game... which they almost didn't do.
