Would any other team (other than another SWAC or MEAC team) with Jackson State's schedule and 7-0 record be ranked this high?????

Yes, if Prime was the coach.

They are 113 in Massey's SOS

St Thomas is 6-1 against 129 and received 1 point
Butler is 5-2 against 126 and has zero points
Merrimack is 6-2 at 115 with losses to #8 Holy Cross in week 1 and a 1 score loss to Harvard has 14 points
NC Central is 5-2 against 114 with zero points
St Francis is 5-2 against 112 with an FBS loss in OT and a loss to Richmond and has 6 points
Princeton is 6-0 against 109 and is 22nd
Penn is 6-0 against 101 with 18 points
Fordham is 6-1 against 82 and is #15
Holy Cross is 7-0 against 71 and is #8
Delaware is 6-1 against 70 and is #11
William & Mary is 6-1 against 64 and is #12

So to answer your question - no. No other SWAC/MEAC school gets that benefit. No other school outside of SDSU/NDSU gets that benefit - but they'll have started that high. No school in the country is going to play that schedule and move up to the top 5-10 like that. Certainly no MEAC/SWAC schools.

No, but Jackson St is up to # 18 in Massey now. Eye test tells me that D would allow them to compete with teams in top 10. just an opinion

I would love to see Jackson St in the playoffs, Florida A&M not so much

There are many teams, some unranked, that would pass the eye test with that schedule.

Exactly. They are a legit team, but getting entirely too much love considering their schedule. How many seasons, over and over again, have we heard about SOS and how it should impact a teams rank. Heck I still see it from some teams fans challenging a couple of the anointed ones. But somehow Jackson St gets a pass? I have them ranked, reluctantly due to their refusal to participate in the playoffs. But I have them exactly where they demonstrated they belong, in the 20+ range. I wouldn't argue high teens, but that's about it. AGS is still a bit high, but much more correct than all the other polls. They will go undefeated, probably, but they no where near deserve a top 10 ranking due to their schedule. Having the 113 strongest out of 130 FCS schedules makes this a no brainer. They are predicted, by at least Massey, to move up a bit to end the season with the 104th out of 130 schedule. Oh boy.

I agree and that’s why I put so much emphasis on the Campbell game, the only real test for Jackson St all year.

Would love to see them play better teams, after Campbell I think they compete

we will never know

Lindenwood’s on this list for the second time this season. The sky is the limit.

This time feels a little more deserved. They've got 4 FCS wins under their belt and their only 2 losses are to teams ranked in the top 25.

Give the program a couple of recruiting cycles to add some size and physicality, and those games vs UTM and SEMO get a lot more interesting.

Meh.

Wins over
0-8 Murray State
2-5 EIU
3-4 Central Arkansas
2-5 Houston Christian

Blown out by SEMO and UT-Martin

UNI also has 4 FCS wins this year they aren't getting votes. Why not? Because the wins are
0-7 WIU
1-6 Indiana State
1-6 Utah State
2-5 Missouri State

2 losses to ranked FCS teams - #2 Sac State and #23 UND by 2 - and a third to a team receiving votes in Illinois State by 2

The difference is UNI played Air Force while Lindenwood played someone called Keiser.

Should UNI be ranked at 5-3 with their schedule but Air Force replaced by a non-D1?

I'd argue no.

Classic case of OVC teams getting votes/ranked because they beat the rest of the OVC.

I don't care if I sound harsh, or if they are new. They are FCS they get the same judgement from me as anyone else. UNI beats them like a drum

So your offense looks like it could be decent for a first year team, but the 2 ORV votes must be an allies. Below link and screenshot is from Massey and does not reflect a team deserving of top 25 votes. No worries, that St Thomas got 17 is off the charts just silly and stupid.

The best subjective polling actually comes from this site, AGS ... for one simple reason, the transparency of their voting process which allows bad votes or homer votes to get called out in real time ... it keeps most people much more objective and more inclined to do some research, or they will get some grief. No head coach is going to scouring various sites to make sure they put up a good poll each .. they have games to worry about, plus inherent biases with little accountability for putting up credible votes.

AGS does this right and very well .. much better than Coach's Poll and the STATS poll. Here is Massey site, which tracs all the polls .. I like AGS and the Massey Composite. After that, I like Massey's own ranking site because it is very easy to use for quick references. https://masseyratings.com/cf/compare1aa.htm

Lindenwood results per Massey, who has you 52nd ... a nice start .. good luck with your future in FCS !!!!: https://masseyratings.com/384031/4116

St Thomas results per Massey, who has them 92nd .. and they got 17 top 25 votes ... Coaches are the laziest most subject voters: https://masseyratings.com/384031/6926

They don;t play a team in the top 100 the rest of the way ... so some coaches will really keep bumping them when they beat bad teams ? And they lost to #61 SUU by 31, the toughest opponent by far .. and nowhere near the top 25. Maybe SUU should claim Top 25 for beating Top 25 (17 votes anyway) St Thomas by 31 ... silliness.

Appreciate the effort in your post, unfortunately it's kinda wasted on me. You don't need to convince me the LU has a ways to go.

I'm saying the RV makes more sense compared to when they were RV earlier this year.

This is essentially a D2 team still. They announced the move in February of this year, 2 days prior to NSD. So when I'm pointing out the wins you dismissed, I'm doing so from a standpoint of them stepping up and exceeding expectations.

I stand by my point, let Coach Stugart get some recruiting classes with the D1 card in his pocket, and Lindenwood could be a player on the national scene. Rich recruiting area in STL, proven coaches with a positive winning culture, and a community eager to support.

Yeaaaaah, to compare UNI, who’s been in D1 for decades, to LU for what they’ve done is silly. 4-2 vs FCS teams is still 4-2. Not many newcomers to this level past and present can say that.

Nitpick: Utah Tech (previously known as Dixie State), not Utah State (whom Weber beat) if I'm not mistaken.
