I believe Princeton is a legit Top 20 team when they're focused. Not a team you would want to face in the playoffs. Seriously, how cool would a Delaware vs Princeton playoff game be?!?!

Surace has really elevated the talent level at Princeton. They have G5 level guys all over the field imo. However, he loves to win by always being one step ahead. Sometimes it backfires...

Will the Tigers be ranked come Monday? Or will the AGS bias prevent it? That's a Top 20 team, or better. My last gasp "it's a damn shame the IL doesn't participate in the playoffs" of the night. With that said, Yale and Penn will be tricky. Especially Penn because they have the type of defense that can frustrate the Tiger's sometimes gimmicky offense.

Give me Princeton -9.5 against Fordham and I'd happily take the Tigers. And Fordham is also a Top 25 team. The idiotic IL policies do these teams no favor with their spring football rules and limited scheduling. Princeton should be able to flex their muscles more regionally if nothing else....

Spring football rules? I think the Southern teams have an edge in this.
Limited scheduling? I have ranted this on here and rarely on the Ivy Voy board over a period of several years.

More regionally? I prefer cross-regional games with the likes of the Vandals, UC Davis, UIW, etc. I am sick and tired of Ivy League's scheduling model. xsmhx

ISUr up 20-7 at half.

Our kicking game is possibly the worst in FCS. Left 7 points on the field ... 2 easy FGs (neither missed .. 1 muffed and 1 blocked) and a blocked XP. We played well for most part other than that. Our pass game is firing today so far. We're finally starting to establish some WRs to match our stud TE Taula.

That said, ISUb is known for going down early and coming back .. stay tuned, we know they played their last 3 losses within a TD. They are a very tough 1-5 team .. and they're at home.

edit: stats finally loaded at half. ISUr Annexstad is 19-28 for 245 yards (2 TDs, 1 pick) at the half. ISUr hasn't seen that in a full game for a long time.

He's done an amazing job. Officially 4-2 vs the D1 teams on their schedule so guaranteed a winning record vs them. I would expect them to win their 2 D2 games so looking at a 7 or 8 win season (TTU will be tougher than their last 3 games)

Exceeded my expectations for sure. And I have to emphasize again, this is a D2 built team. Overall the bodies on the roster are smaller than the teams they're playing.

You do have to worry about Jed sticking around. Northern Colorado will be lurking this year in sure if the part ways with McCaffery. They're the elephant in the Lindenwood room. I hope that LU now being on equal footing divisionally, and seeing the incredible support from the school and community helps him feel like this is the place to be for the long haul!

Yes. Apparently the Big Sky limits reviews to a certain number of cameras/angles. They don't want a game televised on ESPN, with lots of different cameras, to have an "advantage" over a game that's just being streamed by the school with relatively few camera angles. Gotta keep things "fair".

This is apparently from an "extra" camera angle that the officials can't use in their review. From other angles it was not obvious enough to overturn the ruling on the field.

According to the article on 406 MT Sports (https://406mtsports.com/college/big-sky-conference/university-of-montana/big-sky-commissioner-offers-lackluster-response-about-week-8-officiating/article_f56caa02-53ea-11ed-b7a9-cb1c2f820664.html), he said he's always been "taught" the officiating crew has the same angles as ESPN. I don't know where that teaching came from, or if it's correct, but doesn't sound like he was 100% confident he was correct, either.

Edit: I don't know if this partnership (https://bigskyconf.com/news/2015/7/17/MBB_0717155020.aspx) is still in effect, but it would seem to support Catbooster's assertion that all BSC games utilize the same equipment/angles, regardless of if ESPN is covering it with more cameras. And the thinking is sound, IMO. If there are 2 identical plays (extreme hypothetical here), one shouldn't be ruled one way because it was on ESPN and the other ruled another because it wasn't. Everyone gets the same quality of review, which under the NCAA rulebook Rule 12, Section 4, Article 2a, "The type of equipment used to carry out necessary instant replay duties shall be determined by each conference." The equipment has nothing to do with ESPN from what I can gather.

I don't know. I read/heard it somewhere - to paraphrase: to ensure consistency and fairness all Big Sky games use the same angles for replays (all of the schools have those angles) regardless whether television provides some additional angles.

Personally, I think that's stupid. Shouldn't we try to be as accurate as possible rather than limit some sites so they're not more accurate than others? Use what you've got to try to get the best call.

But I can't recall where I saw/heard it - if I would have guessed I'd have said Colter on a podcast, but that's a guess. Quite possible it was some tweet or a random post on a message board. It's easy to believe that the camera angles are limited because it allows us to explain the clip in Brint's tweet, which seems fairly clear that he was out of bounds. But I don't know the source and Haslam should know.

But you're likely getting two different Ref crews making subjective calls based on what they're seeing, so this idea of "fairness in consistency" is silly. The goal should be to get it correct. A system where one call of an identical play is incorrect due to limited tech, while another is correct due to better angles is infinitely superior to a system where both calls are incorrect because to has to be "fair".

Not saying this at you, but just this idea that this is what the BSC should be striving for.

I also agree with Catbooster that I've heard this on message boards and twitter before, but not from any single source. It seems to me that Haslam should know.

I don't disagree that the overall goal should be getting it right, 100%. FWIW, in the hypothetical, all else would be equal except for the number of cameras. Think of it as if ESPN had planned to broadcast but something kept the camera crew from making it. You wouldn't have known there were better angles. My inference from the conference hiring DVSports to handle the instant replay for the entire conference, the placement would be standardized, i.e. no "if this had happened at Stadium X instead of Stadium Y, the call would have been overturned because they put their camera HERE and you put it THERE."

Also in the rulebook under Article 3. Location, "All equipment used to review a play during the replay processand the personnel using that equipment shall be located in a separate, securelocation in the press box. This room shall not be available or accessible to anyperson not directly involved in instant replay." ESPN's equipment likely would not be hooked up to the secured equipment used to review.

Again, I'm not arguing for less ability to review. I'm just a layperson trying to interpret the rulebook and the actions of the conference in hiring a 3rd party to handle IR, and I can see where Haslam may be incorrect that all TV angles are available the review team. I will happily accept being wrong if this is not the case.

I like the way you worded that, and it describes my agreement better than I may have otherwise said it. What happens if a program contending for a playoff spot (but with less overall clout) lost on an incorrect call because less angles are available, while a traditional power won because extra angles provided better context for a big ref decision? In this case, I believe making it fair across each program is the lesser of two evils.

I'm just not sure what cameras would they be using otherwise? I don't think this conference and its schools have the money to have separate cameras and operators on each site every week. My assumption is they use the game feeds. Also, as I said, the stadiums are different with the same numbers of cameras, anyways. They're different because they have different ref crews working different games making calls in a subjective manner. It's never going to be "equal" in any sense, and so the idea that you force "equality" at the expense of accuracy just seems stupid to me.

Why are you assuming this benefits one team? Better/more cameras at Montana doesn't solely benefit Montana. You can see this as the teams playing in Greeley get screwed over because they don't have cameras, but I see it as it's the teams in Missoula getting screwed over because they have the ability to be more accurate, but don't because "if we mess up in Greeley, we must also mess up in Missoula".

And I still haven't really seen something saying this is even true -- that they don't use every angle available. "It's a third party company running everything" doesn't mean anything. It's incredibly easy to split feeds and use them in a "secured" room that only this company has access to.

Anyways, if they didn't have access to the views everyone saw during the game, that's stupid, IMO, but nothing we can do. If they did, it's a ****ty way to lose a game, but we had other chances, too. I still just don't think "make it worse for everyone" is a good solution.
