Albany @ Wagner: Albany, I think they are the class of the NEC this year.

Albany @ Wagner - Wagner is good and will keep this close and competative at home, but the Danes are the better team.

St. Francis @ Sacred Heart - SHU's Dale Fink will be a good QB in this league and although the Heart is dissapointing so far, SFPA is just not good at all.

Monmouth @ CCSU - The Blue Devils will key on Sinisi (his 18-game TD streak ends in New Britain) and run the ball down the Hawks throat. Look for a big CCSU win on TV (FSNY, 11 am).

Bryant @ Stony Brook - A former NEC member hosts a future one. We know SBU has about 45 rides this year and a pretty good team, but Bryant is ramping up from D-II.

Duquesne @ Iona - Another future NEC member has a big game this week. Iona has been suprising and actually put up 21 points at UNH in a loss and may have the edge at home in a very close game.

Yes, CCSU has a great running game, but they also have the NEC's best defense. Right now, CCSU D is playing better than UAlbany, but is overlooked becasue of our rushing game (#5 in I-AA).

First Im glad to see the NEC expanding. Duquesne and now Bryant are solid programs coming on board. It's going to get tough at the top. My picks for Saturday.

Albany at Wagner- have to go with the Danes. I think Wagner will give them a fight but Albany has alot of weapons.
St. Francis at Sacred Heart- give this one to SHU.
Monmouth at CCSU- the Blue Devils win. Hate to say it but Monmouth has really dropped-graduation has hurt more than they expected. Hopefully they will bounce back in 2008-they are a good program.
Bryant at SBU-looking forward to seeing the #1 team in the country. I really think it will be a good game -gotta go with the home team though. Just tip for the Bulldogs. Now that you are moving up -you are going to take it on the chin a couple games a season-just ask anybody in the NEC. Thats how you build programs-Lord knows the Seawolves took a few . the secondary doesnt rank well, but they are not giving up that much in yardage. Especially considering who they played. What is scary is the lack of red zone defense. That looks like it comes down to the front 7, but it is odd since they seem to really control the run.

Monmouth @ CCSU: Monmouth is not as bad as it's record and should keep this one close. CCSU's strong D vs. the run and ball control offence should put them over the top. CCSU 24-17

Bryant at SBU: Welcome Bryant to the NEC. This is may not be an NEC game but one has a past and the other a future. I like the newcommer. Bryant 27-21

Albany at Wagner: Wagner's the dog but I can't help myself. Albany's D vs. the run is off the charts good and Wagner's D vs. the run has been very solid. Expect a close low scoring game with special teams making the difference. Wagner 17-14. If you always think positive, you never have a bad day!

Lots of injuries here...no excuses though (both starting LB's and our starting DE).

I hope so, I am used to the d2football.com boards, and to be honest I love the way they are set up. Also regarding an addition cost, I think it would be cool if the NEC could do something like that (willing to help) or even all pitch in and instead of one school for the month because I have a feeling it may be a lot have an NEC month with all different school facts and stuff. Just some thoughts.

to be honest I think the game wasn't as bad as the score. If bryant didnt have a few stupid mistakes the score could of easily been 21-17. SB with the win but Bryant comes out of their with a lot more respect. They knew SBU players were bigger and faster and it definitely got in their heads and made them make some stupid mistakes. The size difference even for a a middle of the road DI team is so substantial, I could not believe how much faster and bigger the players ended up being. Either way it was a good test. And I think bryant will do ok competing over hte next few years and by 2012 I think they may have a pretty good team.

Moving up to the 50 schollies in one year pretty much you guys did a great job of really getting the good players to fill them, not just filling them up. I hope bryant can hang with the NEC guys in the first few years, because it will need to happen to keep fan support up, the team has been good over the past 3 years. A record of 22-5 over those years and if you date back to the last lose of 04 we are 26-5 or something. Fans like to come see that, they wont enjoy the team as much when they are 3-8 etc...

As long as your fans are aware of the transition it shouldn't be too bad. Its important for your AD to continue to schedule your old opponents for the transition years so you can pound them and show your fans that you are making progress.

It was embarrassing. Sinisi is good, very good but we made him look great by not tackling him at all xbawlingx We had too many turnovers too, but no excuse - we got beat pretty bad.

BTW - your coach is pretty good. He had a hell of a game plan -congrats.

However, as upset and bluntly embrassed as I am, the good news is we just need a win vs SHU and as I kept telling everyone all year, the NEC title will come down to Albany at CCSU. Even if the Danes come into New Britain without a NEC loss, as long as we take care of business vs. SHU next week we control our own destiny, something Monmouth can not. :p

I know how you feel. I was at the Wagner debacle. We got our asses handed to us!!! That game we got outcoached, outhustled, out worked, and couldn't tackle at all. You thought, you had missed tackles today our performance against Wagner was worse. We made their 2 running backs look like Walter Payton (I'm really not embellishing this either). It was the worse played Monmouth game I have seen since the 1999 debacle at Lehigh (56-10 I think).

I agree. Wagner is good and maybe could have beat you on a good day anyway, but that score was crazy. You guys had a horrible day, but rebounded well. I think the bye week helped you guys a lot too, but as I said Callahan is a great coach and was very prepared. He threw some wrinkles at us (no huddle) that we weren't prepared for. Also, your QB was impressive - what year is he?

Despite this bad day I still think we still have a good chance to win the NEC becasue of our favorable schedule.

Albany gets RMU in their last home game of the season. They then go on the road to face this improved Monmouth team and CCSU in the finale.

CCSU gets a bad SHU team at home this week. We then go to SBU for a non-conference game and then return home to host UA.

No matter how you break it down, as long as CCSU beats SHU next week, the NEC championship is being held in New Britain - winner takes all.

As long as your fans are aware of the transition it shouldn't be too bad. Its important for your AD to continue to schedule your old opponents for the transition years so you can pound them and show your fans that you are making progress.

I hope they keep some of the old NE10 games. I really hope they keep Bentley since they are a rival and then take osme of the easier NE10 teams. I think we need to create a cushion for some wins. The fans have always showed up, but I hope they stay in the 5,000's and not drop back to the 2,500-3,000 number.
