How about a round of applause for Randy Edsall's team on its greatest Big East win to date. Holding that Louisville offense to just 17 points is mighty impressive (admittedly they got a little help from the weather). Next on UConn's plate is USF. If they can pull another upset there, a conference title and BCS bid could, unbelievably, actually be within the Huskies' reach . . .

That punt return really disgusted me. Should've been an illegal fair catch penalty. That and next time the return man calls a fair catch, he should be drilled hard. No excuse for that. Worse than bush league.

UConn does not exist. They went up with BU and UVt to join the great conference of bye-gone glory in the sky. I don't know what you're talking about.

Actually UCONN fans don't exist. I could see the large number of empty seats in the second half. Here their team was playing a close game against what has traditionally been one of the best teams in the Big East and the "fans" are out in the parking lots getting hammered. Having been to Rentschler Field myself a few times and seen the mentality of the UCONN "fans" I think my call is a correct one. For the most part they're just a bunch of idiotic drunks.

I guess this is good because it makes the UVA win over UConn more legit.

We used to see their drunken behavior when UConn played at Yale. Many UConn students used to come down to New Haven, but instead of going to the game, they were getting drunk in the parking lot and causing all sorts of problems. It was almost like being at Ozzfest.
BTW, I find it hillarious how all of a sudden UConn is drawing big crowds to Rentchler Field. True, they're big time now, but I remember going to old Memorial Stadium during their I-AA days and seeing barely 3,000 people in the stands.

Hilarious is right but that's only because there is a beer stand underneath every section. Of the 40,000 people in that stadium I'd say maybe 1,000 of them are sober and actually understand football. The other 39,000 don't even know what 1st and 10 means but they can tell you which beer company has a stand under which section.

Louisville is just a terrible, terrible disappointment. When you lose to Syracuse and UConn in the same year you just have to question where you're heading. With Brohm gone after this year you wonder where Louisville will be and if they can managed to stay out of the Big East basement.

UConn has two wins this season directly related to Zebra mistakes! Temple beat them but had their winning TD in the last minute incorrectly ruled with a receiver not getting one foot in when replay showed that he did. And that fair catch was a horrendous mistake by the zebras. I saw the exact same play at Hofstra Saturday and it was correctly ruled a fair catch. Take away that punt return and I seriously doubt the Huskies beat Louisville.

Don't get me started! xrolleyesx
The team - overrated! The LOST to Temple, but were saved by a bad call. Again, vs. Louisville the refs bail out Huskies at home. If you can call it a win, its the first one of the year worth anything. When the schedules is built on wins vs. Maine, Temple, Duke, Akron, and Pitt, you really have to wonder if that even a BCS-conference team.
The stadium - a waste of tax dollars! The state spent $92 million on this home of Husky football. UConn asks, then they recieve. But at CCSU we have to beg and grovel for the $$ to build much needed academic building, public safety facility, residential dorms, and athletic facilities.
The fans - arrogant and uninformed! Go to the UConn board and you'll read about the lack of "respect" UConn is getting and why they should be on national TV every week. They actualy think they have good fans and know football. Games at the Rent are just a thing to do, they think becasue they are a basketball powerhouse, football will just come easy. They think the "deserve" everything!
I can go on and on, but I won't ...

You're right that Louisville has been a MAJOR dissapointment, but I wouldn't write off the Cards' future just yet...and even if you do...don't base it on the QB spot. U of L back up Hunter Cantwell has a number of career starts including one in the Gator Bowl, and is an early popular pick to be a top 5 QB in next year's draft. It is almost unamimous among the coaches that his arm itself is better than Brohm's, and he's certainly more mobile as well. Behind him, Louisville is redshirting Matt Simms (yes, Phil's son and Chris's brother)...and the scary part is that he's got another guy in the same class who is rated just as highly.
The defense is very young and should only get better.

The Cards are still a dangerous team. I hate that Anthony Allen got away from Tampa. I saw him play in high school he can tote the rock.

Don't get me wrong; I agree with everything you've written here. I guess I'm just of two minds about UConn. There's the part of me that shares the views you express here, but there's also the part of me that was a huge UConn basketball fan growing up and really wants to get excited about the possibility of UConn football doing well. In spite of all the reasons not to root for the Huskies, part of me wants to be able to search for the slightest reason to do otherwise, and the Louisville win provided that (sort of).
Everyone is of course right about the punt return--an atrocious call, obviously. The Big East did officially acknowledge yesterday that the refs blew it. Not that that amounts to much, though.

I'm a UConn fan, and I want to see them do well in football. I've watched two of their games so far, both wins and both had questionable calls. In fact there two awful replay calls in the Temple game, both went UConns way.
