For me, its pretty easy...

1. Portland State (no question)
2. Cats and Griz---too many friends and family that are alums of both
3. Any other BSC team playing non-conference

After that, I have to admit I really don't care, although after the crowd and sportsmanship exhibited by the McNeese fans from last year, I kept a close watch on the Cowboys (and probably will do the same this year.)

I've always been a lifelong Austin Peay fan, but I recently stumbled across this little school in the middle of nowhere. They play ball in a gnat infested area called Statesboro, GA (ever heard of it? me neither). Anyway, it turns out they're pretty OK. They've won a couple of NC here and there, I think I'm going to start rootin for them from now on.... :D

I read this thread a couple of days ago and had to think about it for a while. The easy answer is to say whoever is playing Nova but tonite I am not ducking the question so here are my top teams and my reasons.

1. Mc Neese I always liked this team going back to the 70’s and their uniforms look just like a local Delaware High School football team (Caesar Rodney JohnStonge knows all about the real Caesar Rodney) Plus if they make it to the championship I expect buckp to supply me with enough snakebites to pass out before half-time.
2. App. State. Like McNeese they are always the bridesmaid but never the bride. They have a great tradition and by all accounts a beautiful venue.
3. Georgetown. My old man began his academic career here before transferring to Delaware. He always had great things to say about G’town and the Jesuits.
4. Citadel. It has been an interesting rivalry with the Dawgs since 1974. That and the military tradition and the boneyard tradition in Charleston make it a really fun rivalry. I always check to see how the Dogs do.
5. Indiana State. Like Delaware they have a totally unique mascot the Sycamores. I know of know other team that has a tree for a mascot.
6. Colgate. This is a team that has supplied UD with many great moments going back to 1977. How can one not root for them at other times?
7. Furman . I love the Furman-GSU smack and Furman is usually the underdog.
8. UNI. Certain posters get me laughing My *ss off.
9. Montana Even more posters get me laughing My *ss off.. Plus they have Grizchik
10. UNH Their coach is awesome. They do more with less than anyone I have ever seen.

Obviously, with Brown Blood my Engineering Mountain Hawks are my passion. But after that I've got a few I-AA's that I am usually pulling for:
1. All the PL's--standing up for a unique athletic philosophy. However, within the Leage, Bucknell has some sentimental attachment due to my daughter being an alum, and hence $130,000 of my money. And Colgate because I like Biddle's approach to the game and the relationship with Fred Dunlap, who was one of my coaches at Lehigh.
2. Delaware--Yes, I really do like the Blue Hens, except when they play Lehigh or another PL. Strong family connections to UD--my uncle played in the early 1950's under Admiral Nelson, and numerous cousins attended. Was also recruited and enjoyed the visit (but wanted a smaller school).
3. Furman/Wofford--seem to have programs similar to Lehigh's, except for the full scholarships. A lot of respect built after having banged heads with the Terriers and Paladins over the past few years.
4. Montana/UNI--Though I've never been to either venue, having watched the enthusiastic following these two schools have on the boards has me usually 'pulling' for them when I'm listening for the 'out of town scores.'
5. Richmond--'cause I'd like to see them in PL.
6. All of the other I-AA's when playing a I-A

Really enjoyed the McNeese people at the 1997 NC game. I also pull for Delaware our old D2 rival, and any Gateway team come playoff time.

Hope and pray everything turns out ok down in Lake Charles as I see Rita is headed in that direction.

6. Colgate - Earned my respect when they went to the NC
7. Murray State - they used to play like a spoiler team as well, although they have been quiet lately.
