Lehigh was competitive for better part of 3 quarters.LU left points on the field even running vanilla O. After a dead even 1st half , a different LU came out for the 3rd. 3 TOs and blocked punt. The O imploded. We should be used to the inconsistency by now.smh A winnable game that we tanked all by ourselves.

They need new coaches! The offense is an embarrassment yet Gilmore makes no changes. They FR quarterback is going nowhere given his teachers. No quarterback can produce under Brisson and his rudimentary play calling!
So happy Monmonth and Fordham are rolling into Goodman the next two weeks! Lehigh has nowhere to hide against high flying offense!! Monmouth will want to re-assert their dominance over the PL!

I will pick the Raiders over the 'Big Red', who haven't been very big in recent years. 'gate, 28-17
Saders at "The Yard" should be the marquee game. Cross showing good balance on both sides of the ball. Getting Johnnie early is a help. 'Saders win 31-21.
Luckily for the Hoyas their Jesuit brothers should be just devine and give them mercy. I suspect a lot of 2d and 3d stringers will see action. Rams take foot off the pedal, but still 56-21.
Christy Mathewson Stadium may be a good place for nap this Saturday. I was not far off my 13-6 prediction of the Penn/Pard game, and I suspect this one to, likewise, be a 'defensive struggle'. I expect the winner to occur through a turnover or two. Flip of the coin on this one...It's a Buffalo head! 13-7.
Lehigh's 'Coach K', the DC, will have his hands full with the high octane Hawks. Lehigh's only chance is the stop the self-inflicted wounds (turnovers) and have time consuming sustained drives to keep the Monmouth O on the sideline. Chance of rain on Saturday that could help, but Mountain Hawks need more than a Rainmaker. Return of their upperclass OL will help both the run and passing game. A tough game no matter it's sliced, but Perri needs to bounce back and show he can move the offense. Like Princeton, it may be interesting for a half, but I doubt Lehigh can keep pace with Monmouth's speed. Jersey Hawks over Mountain Hawks, 38-20.

No they did not.
Yes, a mirage. 10 pts on O, as there was a pick 6 to reach 17.
I dont think this Princeton team is the team from last year by a long shot, and they were in control the whole way.
LU doesnt win again until maybe Bucknell.
Next two weeks Monmouth and Fordham will put up 50 each. Even with their struggling defenses, we wont score much, we just dont have the horses nor the scheme, as the OC is a total dud.
HC will put up 50 and we may not score.
Looking to 2-9 best case scenario, 3-8 if an opponent slips up.
Anybody who feels otherwise is really fooling themselves, its time to be honest about our program. The body of work is just not good.

Not sure why Bucknell changed the seating arrangement a few years ago by having the visitors sit on the press box side of the field and the home team across the way staring into the brutal western setting sun! I hated getting baked over there. Now, visitor gets to sit in front of the press box, in the shade, and wind broken by the structure. Will be interesting to see what attendance will be in Christy Mathewson!

No question the next two weeks could be quite humbling. At the same time, recall how the team rose up and challenged Holy Cross and Fordham last year. Holy Cross is the only one that appears to be a 'complete team'. Everyone else has significant holes.

4-1 last week, 20-5 so far this season. Settling into a solid groove so far. This feels predictable. Almost...too predictable. As if the typical chaos of a college football season lurks around the corner. Is this the week things get weird?
Monmouth at Lehigh Monmouth Weirdness factor: maybe high? Lehigh getting a result here would be pretty strange, especially given how little they've shown so far this year. I haven't really watched these Hawks, but I get the impression they haven't been very competitive. Monmouth is 1-1 against the PL this season, and I don't see the Hawks scoring like Fordham did for the win.
Cornell at Colgate Colgate Weirdness factor: not really. No mincing words, Cornell ran the Raiders off the field last year. That was unusual in the sense that Colgate has dominated recent history, and wound up being a pretty solid team in the PL, while Cornell was their usual bottom-tier Ivy selves. As long as we can drag SUNY-Ithaca into a slugfest, we should have enough to pull this out.
Holy Cross at Harvard Holy Cross Weirdness factor: shouldn't be, but might feel that way? The Holy Cross Hype Train is way out of the station now, as it should be. The Crusaders are a tough, veteran team that knows how to make plays when it needs to. They already have a decisive win against the Ivy favorites in Yale. They share a common opponent in Merrimack, and transitive scores suggests another decisive HC win. A good Ivy winning isn't really that surprising, and Harvard did thump the Crusaders last year, but this feels different.
Georgetown at Fordham Fordham Weirdness factor: this would be pretty weird. Even in losing, Fordham will score on anyone. Georgetown struggles to score at all. In their better years, the Hoyas have been solid defensively, but I'm not sure I see that in this group. Georgetown won in 2018 and was within a score in 2019. Last year was not that competitive. The Rams look like the last good chance in the League to stop Holy Cross, and while they have put out inconsistent performances before, this should not be in too much doubt.
Lafayette at Bucknell Lafayette Weirdness factor: it's Lafayette, expect the unexpected. This could easily be a slugfest that sets the sport back several decades. Alternately, get ready for the shootout we never saw coming. Who said weirdness was winner-dependent? Two teams that are pretty good on defense, I like the Leopards who have a little more experience in closing out games. As in, they did it once, which is one more time time than Bucknell has. Bet the under and prepare to be disappointed.

Fordham is 16-2 at home versus Georgetown since the 1970 season. In those two wins (1974, 2018), Fordham was held to seven and 11 points, respectively.

Absolutely right! I was there and couldn't believe it. You have a chance to get up by a TD on a team to whom you are a heavy underdog. You have to take some calculated risks. Garcia has shown himself to be a very tough runner and 9 out of 10 would have gotten that two feet. I also don't know if the FG was tipped. I thought the kicker just mis-hit it. Gilmore made a similar decision last week at Princeton on a fourth and one at the Princeton 40. He elected to punt and, of course, the punt went in the end zone for a touchback and huge net of 20. You have to show some confidence in your team (even if you aren't sure). Let them prove it to themselves.

Seriously though, who is the PL's 3rd best team? Not like it REALLY matters but it's something to hold onto...lol
After Cross, everyone else has holes. Fordham's high octane offense, I guess, gives them the nod, but offense alone will not get enough done to get a bid. There will be a game or two when 'things' happen and scores don't come or, God forbid, a key injury. That's why champions are built with defense first.

So...how do you sell a program where your ceiling is no more than two, maybe three wins a year?
Asking for a couple of friends.
Here's what I would do if I were a Hoya guy.
1) Tell your AD to add scholarships. I don't care if it won't make too much of a difference. When it comes to Georgetown football, any little bit helps.
2) Tell your AD to make an offer on the OC w/the #1 O in all of FCS. I guarantee that guy will have you winning within 2 yrs.
3) Tell your AD to break the AI. We broke the no-scholarship rule. Everyone followed along. Well, almost everyone. Now here's the Hoyas chance to lead.
Oh and just so we're clear, I'd never want #2 to happen. Simply saying what I would do if I was a Georgetown guy.

Colgate or Fordham
I'm not gonna sandbag things to the point where I sincerely can't tell if nationally ranked Fordham is better than 1-4 Colgate. But I can sincerely say that from not closing in the 4th against big favorites, to not showing up in the 1st against big underdogs, Conlin is in way over his head. Thankfully there's not much left on the schedule and talent alone should get us in at 9-2. xpeacex

#2 is ironic in that Georgetown's offensive coordinator was a former OC at Clemson. That hasn't exactly helped.

Sort of, except that he is around 60 yrs old, and his coaching trajectory down since that time at Clemson. Not the young, energizing OC that was Boogie’s point. Ironic on the surface, but a deeper dive shows it’s just another element where Georgetown is ‘almost.’
That said, I’d take him over Lehigh’s bozo OC in a heartbeat. A heartbeat.

An infuriating call by TG. Playing to win should be the standard not just a happy accident. Team has talent but less and less confidence as weeks go by. At the very least, the HC should try to instill some by going for the right play not the safe play.

Agree w Rich and Engineer. That choice was turning point in game, and it came early.
The offense is atrocious. We really have no gamebreakers. We don’t. Don’t argue it. And 2 of 3 Rbs we have got hurt. Brisson is awful.
Maybe not fully Tom’s fault there, he was required to keep him at outset. But, he had cause to fire him last year and did not. We avg around 10 pts a game from O not much more.
Qb and roster mismanagement…5 qbs on a 60 schollie roster? To many. And to many have been misses when the walk on is the best of the bunch, now followed by or getting surpassed by the frosh, an FBS transfer flops, and they are adding another? That’s a lot of cap money wearing red hats and holding clipboards on sideline.
I don’t care if the D ranks highly against the run. Monmouth completed 20 of 27 in crap weather. It’s not a silver lining.
Gilmore didn’t need to bring a new culture, that wasn’t broken. Andy was sick. We needed a new leader. Now we do have a culture problem. One of excuses, no energy, and losing.
This isn’t a just downswing from a transition. Not any more. To quote Owl, to much data to analyze and none good. It’s time to fully admit Lehigh is broken and fully commit to the need for a total tear down. Kids and parents deserve better.

Complete rebuild required unfortunately. Everything is broken. On a brighter note, HC looked like a top 10 team yesterday and has a legit shot at a seed. Why they decided to pass the ball on that last possession instead of milking clock was extremely puzzling and could have been a disaster, but K bailed them out with FG. Fordham looks real good, on one side of the ball anyway. Expecting them to have their way in Goodman next week.

I would have agreed with you... if our OL was healthy and played offense like we did in the first half vs W&M. And I don't know what to make of Colgate - they are probably third best. I think Lafayette-Lehigh will be a comedy of errors.

It also speaks to the difficulty in recruiting coaches. The average assistant coach at Georgetown (minus basketball) makes about $55,000 a year. That's fine for a kid out of college, but prohibitive for veterans unless they've saved their money or it's a two income household.
$55,000 is a comfortable living in Lewisburg or Easton. It's not in DC, where a one bedroom apartment near campus starts at $2400 a month and if you're a coach with a wife or young family, a two bedroom is close to $5,000. A Lafayette assistant coach drives up Route 22 and parks adjacent to the Bourger House, a Georgetown assistant probably lives 20 to 30 minutes from campus and must park across the river in Virginia and take a bus to campus because there is no more on-campus parking. (Oh, and that parking lot in Arlington will run him $162/month.). An Georgetown assistant could take advantage of the employee discount to take graduate courses for a degree in sports management, assuming they have the time, but the courses aren't on campus but downtown, so add a 20-25 minute drive downtown and then for parking.
Yes, there's always movement in the assistant ranks as they look for opportunities and upward mobility. Georgetown averages from four to five new assistants every year. Some go elsewhere, some get out of coaching altogether. Georgetown hired five assistants for the 2021 season. Where are they today?
Steve Thames - still there
Spencer Emerson - Division III OC
Paul Padalino - became a high school coach
Kevin Falaki - became a grad assistant at UConn
Willie Robinson Jr. - got a job in Germany
Long story short, and there's a column coming on this, GU either gets young assistants that are out the door, or older coaches. Georgetown, and its lack of performance on the field, is not a destination for a lot of upwardly mobile coaches.

DFW,
I don't disagree about the situation with GU coaches...but having lived in the Easton area (just over the border in NJ), $55,000 is nowhere near comfortable living in the Easton area. Yes, if one is young and single, perhaps...but if there is a wife and even a hint of children, no way. You did point out the two income earner situation, but even LC would be asking that wife to make near/over $100,000 for any kind of comfortable living. With Northampton County Average household at 87k and median at 65k, that coach is struggling to live nearby...has to really go west, because south (to Bucks county) and east (to NJ) are even worse!!

Salaries are a challenge across many staff positions in higher ed. It's the tradeoff of experience versus opportunity.

True...hard to believe (I just read a newspaper article about it) Billy Joel's "Allentown came out 40 years ago this month! But times have changed in Lehigh Valley. A lot I will tie it to is the complete opening of I-78 (finally finished and opened a few days before Tgiving 1989. Note I recall sitting in the brand new Goodman that Lafayette-Lehigh game, with the snow squalls and looking at the empty 78 and thinking I will never see it that way again) as commerce tie in and much easier commutes over to NJ employment centers emerged. Now the negative side of the sword - the location is drawing in so many warehouses. Route 33 has become a nest of these structures. That one on Rt 22 next to Woodspring Hotel just looks hideous!

Facts.
As tough as a job as Georgetown is, I think Kevin Decker could get them to middle-of-the-pack in the PL. The bar isn't exactly very high.
