The future of a Baylor University football coach cited for urinating on a local bar early Sunday is up in the air.
At a Tuesday press conference, head football coach Guy Morriss said offensive line/tight ends coach Eric Schnupp is suspended.
“I’m sure all of you are aware of the situation with Coach Schnupp, and I have decided to suspend him indefinitely until this situation is resolved,” Morriss said. “And that is basically all I have to say about that at this particular time. We are going to go on about preparation for the Longhorns.”
Morriss said that he and offensive coordinator Lee Hays will take over Schnupp’s coaching duties in the interim.
Schnupp, in his first year on Baylor’s staff, was cited by police for disorderly conduct-reckless exposure at 2:20 a.m. Sunday after allegedly urinating on the side of the bar at Scruffy Murphy’s, 1226 Speight Ave.
A bartender on duty that night said an employee saw Schnupp peeing on the bar as employees were trying to get patrons out of the bar at closing time. The bartender says that Schnupp denied peeing on the bar, “but there was definitely a puddle and there was no one else around him.”
A manager then alerted police, who were already at the bar for an unrelated reason.
The alleged incident came hours after Baylor was defeated 58-10 at the hands of the Kansas Jayhawks in Lawrence, Kan., Saturday afternoon.
Schnupp came to Baylor after three years on the coaching staff at West Texas A&M University. He played at the University of Miami from 1995 to 2000.
