Carroll, located in Helena, Montana, is 7-0, ranked #3 in the NAIA, and has not given up a touchdown so far this year.

Yep. My Alma Mater!! xthumbsupx They had won 4 straight NAIA NC's and there is a rumor that if Montana coach Hauck leaves that Carroll's coach Mike Van Diest is a leading candidate for the job.

No TD's allowed in 7 games is awesome in any division of football.
My alma mater, Jamestown College, is also 7-0 and ranked 7th or 8th.

So none of you guys went to Montana? Montana is probaly the only school on this board with fans who didnt attend the school or have a close family member, like a son, attend.

I was born and raised in Missoula, grew up cheering for the Griz, attended one year out of HS, dropped out, joined the Navy, and was FORCED to attend University of Idaho under the Enlisted Commissioning Program. xcoolx xcoolx xcoolx xcoolx xcoolx xcoolx

Ya, I grew up cheering for Penn State as my local team in much the same way Montana must have been for you. Montana and Delaware are about the only FCS teams that bring in fans in such a manner. And the Dakota schools too I guess.

Great, now you've jinxed them!! xsmiley_wix Even though I was born and raised in Helena, I was always taught to hate Carroll, since my dad went to their main rival, Montana Tech. We'll see if they can hang a fifth banner this year. xnodx

51 players on the roster are from Montana.
There are also quite a few from Idaho and Wyoming

Carroll gets all the guys who could make it at UM/MSU but might not get a lot of playing time or they would have to play a position they wouldn't want to. Now that Carroll has established itself more and more kids are looking at it. It's also a good school. I never go to the Carroll games because of the conflict with the Griz games, but in 2004 I know Montana invaded Tennessee because the NAIA championship game is played in Hardin County. I know a few folks who watched the Griz lose on Friday then drove and watched Carroll win Saturday. Carroll is the real deal! xnodx

Graduated from The U of Montana in 1993
I was the kid that didn't go to Montana State like every other kid in my high school. By the way, my high school only had 9 kids, so thats not saying a whole lot.

I think they both made it in 2000 & 2001...I know one of those years Joe Glenn's wife went to the Carroll champ game because their son played for Carroll.

That's true, I know the Glenn's and that was a hell of year for NC's in Montana. Joe wins one as a coach and Casey wins one as a player. Not a bad season for a family.

Also true Bobby and his little brother (also on the Falcons staff) both played QB at Carroll under the tutelage of their father (Bob) who was HC there for a long time. His (Bob Sr.) nickname is putter.....hey wait a minute...

sorry ursus,
It's not me, although he and I are from Butte! Some of Bobby's assistants in Atlanta are also Carroll Grads so he is keeping it in the family.

Also for what it's worth. When Bobby Petrino was at Carroll he was the PG for the basketball team and Indiana Basketball Head Coach Kelvin Sampson was the coach of arch rival MT. Tech Orediggers.

You don't think that runs through my head? HA! Seriously, WCU was a choice of mine coming out of high school, but I made a decision to state in state instead, but I've still always pulled for the Cats. We simply need a new coaching staff and an administration that will back football. Once we get that, we will win and of that, I have NO doubts.xthumbsupx

They beat Eastern Oregon 28-7 yesterday. As you can guess from the score, their "no touchdowns allowed this season" streak is now over.

I never attended Portland State, yet follow them closely since I moved out here the same year the Vikings joined the Big Sky. Actually graduated from Rocky Mountain College, who plays in the same conference as Carroll and I learned to hate the Saints from my experience at RMC.

For the six weeks I pretended to be a college student, I had Kelvin Sampson for bball and weight lifting. I thought they would be easy A's, or at least B's.
Nope! The man was insane!
But he did once say to me "nice rebound".
