4T. Chattanooga

Bucknell had a surprisingly close game against Towson, unless Towson sucks bad. VMI might have a fight. A little recent history their. They should win against the little Bison. Furman and Samford will have their hands full all day. Just a matter of how respectable they can make it. WCU, if they can tighten up their D, has a punchers chance. Chatty should handle their game unless they sleepwalk. That's happened before. After watching Elon, Wofford will have a rough time of it. Don't see us being able to challenge ETSU unless we have one hell of week in practice. I'll get to my golden predictions soon enough.

The CAA boys are crowing about their amazing FBS scalps and the 17 Teams they are going to get into the Playoffs because those scalps prove how good they all are. FUBeAR didn’t see Navy, but he’s pretty sure Wofford would beat Charlotte by 3 scores.

Massey has Charlotte just between McNeese and VMI currently..... In last year's final Charlotte ended between IWU and Davis. They'd have been around 16-17 FCS. A good win...but not a P5. Navy on the other hand would have finished as the #3 or 4 last year and is currently between Weber and Sacramento. Around 12-13 FCS. They were both good wins as all FBS scalps are. Just not spectacular. But it is way too early to put too much stock in current rankings. But Clemson and GA are in different universes.

Wow, you win a SoCon game by 31-0 and that's only good enough for 4th place. It's tough in FuBEAR's rankings.

I fully agree that the SoCon is good and Furman, Mercer, and ETSU looked really good, but none have won a game against a scholarship D1 team. Oh well, one game at a time and we'll see what it looks like in the end.

Now you tell me. After I blew one of my picks for them to win by double digits. Geez. It was bad week. Lots of weird games. Probably the worst week I have ever had making picks.

Good Lord. The Citadel gets curb stomped by Campbell and yet the conversation is whether a 17 point win at Charlotte is really anything to be pleased with. It was spectacular from my seat. More than a good win in the way we dominated, particularly at the end.

Our game is irrelevant to the issue FuBear brought up. I said it was a good win. And yeah they looked real good doing it as well. Sorry I didn't add that for your sensitivity. If you read the earlier post you'd see I was actually countering Fubear's point regarding the CAAs scalps. I already ranked W&M in my first poll and they moved up nicely this week, as did Delaware.

I like to think of them as the team that beat the second place CAA team last season. I can't say much about OOC SoS this year but I think Wofford would win vs. Mars Hill or North Greenville easily. That said, if that's the place you had the Mocs in prior to last week, I'm not sure any of the teams did anything unexpected. Furman and ETSU beat up on D2 opponents, Mercer beat up on a non scholarship FCS school and lost to an SEC school.

The only team that really surprised was Samford with a great win over KSU. I thought The Citadel might could take Campbell, but they just didn't have it.

Not sure you're thinking clearly these days....

It's early. I got WCU in my radar crosshairs. More than normal. But you are right, for instance, Fubear's habit of ranking those two schools at the top, in perpetuity, borders on the comical.

FUBeAR considered moving WCU into a 3-way with Chatty & Sammy, but with WCU’s D still showing some signs of being monkey pox’d, didn’t think that would be prudent just yet.

Actually, it was more about the top of your rankings, than about the bottom of your rankings. Mercer has given reason for some upward movement, but beating a DII team did nothing for Furman, except win a game going away, that they should have won...

In my ranking I won't put WCU #1, even though they did have a FCS win. 2022 SoCon Power ranking (https://catamountsportsblog.blogspot.com/2022/09/2022-socon-football-power-rankings.html)

FUBeAR’s extensive off-season analysis of roster & Coaching changes, Player & system development, etc. led him to rank Mercer & Furman tied for the top spot in the SoCon in his previously posted Week 0 & 1 Power Rankings.

In watching their 3 total games so far, did you see any tangible reasons for FUBeAR to trash 9 months of work and move either of them down? FUBeAR thought about dropping Mercer to #2 due to their less-than-inspiring performance against a very good SEC Team, but after looking at the replay (cowboy-clicker-like method … isolating every player, every play) and seeing them win a lot of their 1-on-1 battles the whole game, he decided to let them stay where they are for now.

If Furman is able to beat Clemson on Saturday, most likely that would break the current tie FUBeAR has at the top as Mercer is off this week.

CLEMSOn. (24 pt fav tonight vs g tech) will kill Furman and no shame at all in that. None. NO SHAME. Clemson will win most ACC games by 25+ as they are top ten FBS.

UGA. Oh man. Beat number 11 Oregon. Y FORTY SIX. 46! They could do this by 65 if they wanted. And that’s no insult to a Samford team with a great win over KSU. none. Just too many NFL players all over the field. UGA made Oregon look like D2

GTech. Ok. A little less than Clemson but still. p5 ACC. probably best Western by 25? WCU has issues on d.

VMI. hope they beat bucknell. Good for SoCon

ETSU. easy. Citadel isn’t good. ETSU is purty good

Elon. Woff stinks. I saw Elon do way better than Hawaii vs Vandy and hang 30 on Vandy. Good passing O

Chatt vs EIU. Chatt is v good. Don’t know . EIU No pick yet

His suit is only suitable for pandering to the clown community…

I watched Georgia smash Oregon and it honestly looked to me as if it was a video game. Those athletes are ridiculously FAST. The old cliche' of take the $ and hope for no major injury certainly applies to Samford for this game. There are interesting angles that some may not know, however. Kirby Smart's dad was a center on Samford's championship (sort of) 1971 team. His mother is also a Samford Alumnus.

In 2000 Chris Hatcher was the new HC at Valdosta. In putting together his staff, Hatcher had one spot unfilled and that was the DB coach. His budget was almost spent, but there was $8,000 left, but who would work for that paltry salary? Hatcher and his newly hired DC, Will Muschamp talked it over and decided on a young guy who had never coached a day in his life. That kid was Kirby Smart, and to this day he gives Hatcher credit for giving him his start.

So, what does all this mean for Saturday? Maybe Kirby will keep it down somewhat, but I'm not sure he can even if he tries. I hope for good effort from our guys and I do think they will play hard.

For the Wofford fans I forgot to mention this..... As a lot of schools do the Mocs players head over to the Student section and band after the game for the playing of the alma mater. The Terrier players stood facing the band and didn't leave the field until the band was finished. I'm sure that's not an easy thing to do after losing a game, but it was very classy.

I believe it was Wofford that stood during the UTC Alma Mater many years ago, while the Mocs ran into the locker room after the game. Russ Huesman saw this (or may have been alerted to it by fan) and from that point forward, the Mocs stand in front of the student section for the alma mater at all home games. IT is a VERY CLASSY Move on Wofford's part that goes back to the beginning of the Ayers Era...maybe even before that.

FU did suffer a bad loss to VMI in 2014, but FUBeAR does not remember TheUFFP being shut down. That rendition of the board is now-deceased with the new one coming on line in 2018, so don’t think we can check records. Perhaps one of the Admins there can ask the Owner.

What is more likely, and has happened several times, is posters besmirched specific Players. That is, and ALWAYS has been OOB on The UFFP, so those posts may have been removed or even a whole thread locked…but don’t recall the whole board ever shutting down for non-IT reasons. Could be wrong… FUBeAR is old and a Bear; not an elephant.

It 100% happened. It was wild. If you went to the page, there was a message that said something along the lines of "we're shutting down temporarily, it's just a game y'all"

I remember it because I thought it was wild. And I remember roughly the year because you beat Wofford a couple weeks later lol

You wouldn't know it if you watched our coaches show. I don't think I have ever been in a situation where I actively dread college football Saturday, but here we are.

Enjoy it y'all (I honestly can't help but laugh to stay sane myself). Wofford has way more talent than what our output suggests, so hopefully when the next guy comes in it won't be so easy.

What FUBear said...
I recall multiple threads being locked during the debacle that was the 2014 season. We lost to Presbyterian, SC State, VMI & the Bellhops during that 8 game skid and some folks were calling out specific players by name and/or initials during that time. We lost 8 of 9 games (beat a mediocre Woffy) to finish the season. Those were dark times and some people had trouble filtering their emotions. The board was never shut down.

Still haven't a clue as to why our board is down. Could be technical. Could be decorum issues. Lots of unhappy campers with the coach. But when isn't a coach fair game.

SCPALADIN

Agree to disagree. There were some wild emotions going on but I can't recall the entire UFFP being shut down because of grumblings. Maybe football was locked until people were able to take a deep breath but,, if it was, it wasn't long enough for me to notice....but that's on me.

UFFP was shut down. That is a fact. I remember joking about it here and on terrierfans at the time.

I'm actually surprised how relatively civil Wofford fans is right now. Maybe it's because we all know what the singular problems are.

They didn't run the TO at all, it was more of a traditional spread. I think that was one of their downfalls as the TO was part of their identity and it made them competitive even if they didn't have superior athletes. To be honest I think their recruiting has gotten better over the years, but they still are a very small school with high academic requirements and have a hard time recruiting to the level of some public schools. If you look at the schools that run the TO, like The Citadel, Cal-Poly, Army, Navy - they all have recruiting challenges but have had success (at least off and on) because the TO somewhat of a talent equalizer.

Nice find … BUT AGS also remembers via timestamps on the posts in that thread, that it was a 2 hour ‘timeout,’ just a brief pause really.

After 3,417 verses of "Just as I Am" and a re-baptism, the UFFP appears to be saved and open now.
That’s not a “shut down.” Heck, FUBeAR has taken more than 2 hours to craft a single post on more than 1 occasion.

That about sums it up. Also, hard to get the 325 pound lineman into a uniform. And look at least somewhat respectable. LOL. But you have to have players who run it well. When you do have those players who run it to perfection, it is hard to stop by anyone. From 2015 to 2019, we took down South Carolina because they simple could not stop our BBack inside. We were tied with Alabama at half because we played keep away with TOP and had success running, even against them. Pretty sure we ran for more yards than any SEC team did against them. We did the same against Georgia Tech, and they had people on D who knew how to defend against it. But we had a lot of quality players who were in those games who were very good at executing it. When you get players who don't execute to perfection, you wallow with 2-3 yard runs, a bunch of penalties, and a bunch of fumbles. It takes good blocking, good timing, and good speed. We have been lacking all of them lately.

One problem with the triple option is the paucity of option QB's to recruit. For the last few years, we were recruiting spread option QB's hoping they could be taught the triple option with varying levels of success. In a number of cases, talented QB's never really caught on to the TO.

It has been a long time since I have seen a high school running the triple option.

Out more modern option offense towards the end of the Mike Ayers era, would probably have worked out fine if out offensive coordinator knew how to scheme a passing play. On most passed only one or two receivers would run routes. This lead to a lot of interceptions and other forced passes.

Didn’t see much, and haven’t gone back to watch the Keydet’s last week…but it doesn’t sound like they really competed against WF, which is surprising & disappointing to FUBeAR. On the contrary, Bucknell surprised by taking a CAA Team to OT before falling on a missed XP. Bison Kicker also missed 2 FG’s. So, FUBeAR’s gonna assess this one to be closer than expected until VMI gets their mojo back. Special Teams / Kicking (made & missed) will be important.

So FUBeAR’s Paladins enter the Valley of Death in TigerTown as 44+ point dogs. Did the sharpies watch the GT game on Monday? Do they know how bad GT has been? Did they watch FU’s new QB, Tyler Huff, vs. NGU, lay the foundation for his soon-to-be legendary status among great Furman QB’s; names such as Wyche, Whitehurst, Lamb, Napier, and Martin?

Sure, Furman hasn’t beaten Clemson since 1936 and sure, the Tigers have won 31 in a row. But Furman is DUE!

FUBeAR has been beating the drum across FCS land for the BullPups this week. As the only person on AGS who picked them to pluck the owlets, he’s starting to feel responsible for their success. They should be ranked this week in all FCS Polls, as high as #12, but no lower than #15…but we know the pollsters have to keep their ‘sacred cows’ up in the fancy pen and redline any ‘bad elements’ trying to move into the neighborhood.

Anyway…Samford will not beat Georgia. FUBeAR is not sure the 2007 Patriots could beat Georgia. But Kirby Smart ain’t gonna let it get ridiculous against his parents’ Alma Mater (thanks SU Dog) and vs. the man what gave him his 1st Coaching job.

Didn’t see enough out of CIT to make FUBeAR think they can pull off the upset, even in Charleston. Will be interesting to see, if it goes badly, will the bellhop fans emulate their usc gamecock neighbors and boo their own Team/Coaches. Coach Thompson needs to remember how to run a true TO Offense (watch KSU or Davidson) and he needs to let Derrick throw the ball. If he doesn’t do those things, the CIT D is not settled in enough or maybe just not good enough to keep them in many ballgames.

Last week, the Mocs kinda stumbled through an easy win, but imagined they looked like Georgia eviscerating Oregon. New QB is helpful. OL still needs a good bit of work, and the Front 7 on D was not really dominant in their 1-on-1 battles, but they did all right.

EIU gave FBS NIU a darn good game. Not sure why NIU gets so little respect these days. They have been good and did OK last year.

Anyway, this trip to Charleston…the Illinois version…ain’t gonna be as easy as these Mocs imagine. FUBeAR thinks it’s gonna be a close one.

Even when Conklin was winning we absolutely sucked at stopping the run. We've lost our physicality in the trenches, and that translates to both sides of the ball. We don't have a Miles Brown-esque talent that weighs 300ish pounds that can plug the middle and our offense sucks, so they can't even get better in practice. That's more important than the triple option aspect IMO

Now the next big mystery that no one on this board will be able to answer, how the F does Conklin still have the job as HC?!?!?!?

My best guess (not having any inside information, but knowing kind of how Wofford works):

1) Our athletic director being stubborn and or cheap
2) Our entire administration looking at football as a side hustle, not caring about the few dozen to hundred angry people on the internet
3) the one FuBear has theorized that I'm warming up to as bad as things get: Nepotism.

I'm the mod on the Wofford board, and I typically side on keeping things civil but my current strategy is literally let er rip because the reason we're in this kerfuffle is because the administration chose to be. Like at this point, I borderline don't even blame Conklin. When things get this bad, it's the administrator's fault for not stepping in.

The thing is (and maybe I'm just being too optimistic or looking at things from a silver lining perspective): Wofford isn't untalented, with the exception maybe the interior line lacking a big body like we had basically throughout the 2010. We have fast receivers, some monster tight ends, a QB that was recruited by SDSU, and two of our current linemen were on the 2019 socon championship team (I think, Russo and Hogan). Our skill positions in the secondary have a bunch of dudes who were all state or all conference out of high school (I know that's not saying much, but still) and Michael Mason is one of the better rush ends we've had.

The reason we suck is because Conklin (from what I hear) is not a good person. A significant proportion of his players don't like him, and there's been what you could call "counter-buy-in" after the disaster of last season. Conklin thrived off the success of two great coordinators in this first two years, then ran one of them off into retirement (rumor I heard was that he made football not fun for him) and the other one was a strong up and comer who went to the NFL. Huge drop off in offensive knowledge going from that to a staff of 3 coordinators, 2/3 younger than 35. And then the bad stuff comes out, things start getting bad, fingers start getting pointed, players transfer. In the meantime, you have promising new coordinators (I like both of them!) in an environment that is clearly unsustainable and poorly managed (5 people with the title co-coordinator!) that you can't believe there's not dumb constraints self-imposed or otherwise. I mean honestly, I know the spring is the spring: but our offense wasn't an option in that 2020 spring (insert FUBear joke about us treating the season as optional lol), and we actually scored quite well. Wade Lang ran that offense and conklin ran him out of town - I heard from a player that the one practice WL ran in the spring was the most educational practice they ever had. And we ran him out of town!

It's just a mess. But I'm optimistic about the post-Conklin future because we actually do have good amount of talent given all of the above. I personally don't see any downside in firing Conklin literally right now. We're not making the playoffs anyway, would love to see the staff "coach loose" and maybe one of these two coordinators (one former JSU DC, one tenured FBS OC) show me what chops they have.

But we won't do that because the administration just does not care.

FUBeAR

Just wanna say FUBeAR developed and published, perhaps a bit vaguely, his nepotism theory upon the advent of the Woffy Coaching hire; and, if recalling correctly, even mentioned that going in a different direction if things didn’t go well might prove difficult down the road.

FUBeAR, if recalling correctly, did not really like the whole ‘smell’ of Coach Ayers retirement timing from the beginning and just something about the way the announcements were made. That piece of it may have been fine and unrelated to the ‘nepotism theory’ of the hire, but something just seemed ‘off.’ Then, it was clear Coach Ayers was less than pleased with the hire. One of those ‘things not said’ situations.

We’ll probably never KNOW, but as they say, “If your house smells like fish, somebody’s probably been eating some fish.” They say that, right?

I can only wish that top 5 FBS Power Clemson wins by 14 over the Furman Paladins. REalistically (as Vegas has it) it is going to be 50ish. I am pulling for good health..no injuris to either team - and hopefully stop them on a few offensive possessions. Play loose and play to win but don't worry if we lose 50-0. I say 0 because they have 4 NFL DL - maybe the best DL in all of college football according to many..

Try to find some good positive takeaways - we stopped them on a few offensive possessions, whatever and learn and realize we will never see that kind of athleticism again all year. GoFurman !

Also, I would think UGA - who beat Oregon by 46 ! - would beat FCS Samford by 40+...

Man, Furman isn't scoring 22 on Clemson (highly doubtful vs 4 NFL on DL - not even NDSU would be picked to hit 22 pts) and Wofford is highly unlikely to beat Elon. I hope they do as a SoCon guy but Elon looked good with QB2 against Vandy.

I think Furman gets 3 and Clemson gets 47 0r 50. ACC P5 Georgia Tech scored 10 - TEN - vs Clemson. Most ACC teams wont score 20 vs Clemson's D. Their DL is possibly the best in college football. At worst it is top 5 in all of college football

Lots of realistic truth in what gofurman says about FU playing Clemson and Samford playing Georgia. Whatever happens in those games today should not change this season's expectations for either fan base. On another note, I think FUB touched on this, but UTC may have their hands full today. This Panther Team impressed me last week when they came so close to getting a FBS scalp. Beating EIU would be a nice win for the SoCon and, IMO would show that the Mocs are worthy of their ranking.

SU Dog - I think you're right, EIU is better than just about anyone is giving them credit for. They were not a good team when we played them two years ago, but this is not the same Panthers team. The more I've looked at them this week the more nervous I am. I hope our players aren't taking them lightly, or else it will be a long bus ride back to Chattanooga.

Personally, I don't hold any FBS loss against any team, and it doesn't matter if Furman or Samford lose by 50 today - if they can get out without getting any injuries and don't forget the check on their way out, they win.

FUBeAR imagines the likelihood of Chattanooga’s Players, Coaches, and especially Mocs fans imagining that this game has already been won as part of their already won SoCon and FCS National Championships is artificially inflated.

Ran out of time to look deep, but...

VMI by 20
Clemson by 44
Georgia by 41
Georgia Tech by 20
ETSU by 17
Elon by 21
UTC by 10

WCU will be the only FBS game with a chance, albeit small. Furman and Samford should just get out healthy and with maybe a few points for respectability. UTC might be tested, we'll see. Hope we do better than anticipated, but not expecting it unless the O tightens up. We've obviously had to change some schemes due to the new pussy blocking rules. Our D took a hit with an injury as well.

I was 6-2* this past week. Meant to do this a lot sooner but I had a lot going on. Texted my buddy FuBeAR about my pick and he asked me what I was smoking. My stepson kindly hooked him up and he apparently came to the same conclusion I did. After the loss, I caught up with him at Crow-Fil-A. Samford did good against Hooty Hoo's squad. My rankings are as follows:

MOST LIKELY TO MAKE PLAYOFFS
Chattanooga - kicks off season with a solid conference win
ETSU - Cape Greene was the launching point of the Quarles era
Mercer - Great job against Morehead State, Auburn not so much

SOMEWHAT LIKELY TO MAKE PLAYOFFS
Western Carolina - Catamounts win big on the road
Furman - were who I thought they were against North Greenville
VMI - got ran out of Winston-Salem on a rail

LEAST LIKELY TO MAKE PLAYOFFS
Samford - served the Hooty Hoos a nice hot glass of will you please SHUT THE HELL UP
A Citadel - got smoked by the Camels after walking hundred of miles
Wofford - were who I thought they were against the Chattymocs

Week 2 Predictions
Furman @ Clemson (Beatdown of the Week #1) - Tigers uppercut the Paladins early and often
ETSU @ A Citadel - Bucs take Chuckytown by force
Bucknell @ VMI - Keydets send home crowd away happy
Samford @ Georgia (Beatdown of the Week #2) - If Georgia laid Oregon to waste, imagine what they could do to Samford
Elon @ Wofford - Phoenix fly high and away
Chattanooga @ Eastern Illinois - Chattymocs take care of business
And the Upset Special of the Week sponsored by the website FireGeoffCollins.com
Western Carolina @ Georgia Tech - Jackets' season is over and hopefully, so will Collins' tenure in Atlanta

*did not count the Mercer-Morehead State game, which was played after I made the post

I've seen Furman take down many scalps in person - NCST 2x, GaTech 2x (I'll include the tie as a scalp), SC, UNC, and UCF.
I've seen us get whooped by Clemson and I've seen us give them a slight scare back in 2003 (28-17).

I have no idea what to expect today - in 2018 Furman faced IMO a better Clemson team than the one they will see today.
As a Furman fan if we score one touchdown today it will probably feel like a moral victory much like the late touchdown throw in 2018 by Darren Granger.
Like GoFurman said - I hope to see a team in white play hard, as mistake free as possible, and keep Clemson from big play touchdowns.

Off to Death Valley—Go Dins!

So, FUBeAR’s gonna assess this one to be closer than expected until VMI gets their mojo back.

looks like the Roos found their mojo. Treating the Bison like it’s 1’s on 3’s scrimmage. Up 21-0 at beginning of 2Q….against a Team that took an established CAA Team to the wire last week.

This should mean good things for Wofford a little later.

VMI lost their Mojo the final 39 minutes, had to hold on for a 24-14 win. Bucknell with QB change and more aggressive defensive schemes.

We are so bad. Wofford hasn't scored through the first 6 quarters of the season. Tonight we have less than 50 yards of offense. The second string QB, a transfer from South Dakota State is warming up.

Honestly, Wofford defense isn't awful. But our offensive line is (because we have a running back coach coaching them, which is the ultimate asshole "set this guy up to fail" move by the administration) and our quarterback play is atrocious.

I honestly hate this. We are not un-talented, but we're somehow worse than any bad Socon team I've seen in a while.

I knew you were a good man.
We exceeded my expectations. For a top 5 FBS D (4 DL will go pro easily!!!) we scored a TD and two FGs and coulda had more but didn't play moral victories. On 4th and goal on the 1 we went for it and didn't get it. No FG attempt .. also 2 turnovers or we could easily have hit 20. I am happy to be wrong. Georgia TEch only scored 10. Clemson is top 10 (top 5?) FBS becuase of the Defense they have.

Oddly we moved the ball for MORE YARDAGE than they did !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We gained 384 and they gained 376. I am shocked. For so long I havae watched these games and we get about 150 yards on Clemson and they get 500.

Our passing was 30-39. Our D was a little lackluster as we just couldn't stay with their recvrs though they are so big/fast. But they don't have the usual Sammy Watkins or Nuke Hopkins.

If you told me we stayed within 23 I woulda thought 23-0.. not the 35-12 it ended up. Great job by Paladin offense !!!!!! Good effort on D. We won't see anyone CLOSE to that ever again. Those FCS teams that play Nebraska (Oregon, LOL) etc have no idea what it is like playing the Clemson/Bama types. Oregon found out last week what UGA, Clemson is like. HAHA

Unhappy would be an accurate term. Quarles had some head scratchers for play calling that reeks of something Paul Hamilton would do while he was there. I was expecting a poor man's version of Josh Heupel offense but throwing a pass on 4th and inches C"MON MAN! I thought Quarles was better than this but I did remember he had a rough start at Maryville HS before putting up an insane win-loss record. I figured a drop-off but losing to one of the worst SoCon teams last season was not what I had in mind. I hope we don't devolve into a dumpster fire like our softball team.

I think a mid season coaching change is in order. Total failure. Sounds like, from what you have posted that the players have checked out. That one rests squarely on the coach. I said it some time last season, this guy thought he would do a quick touch and go to get his boxed checked while trying to ride previous success. He just wanted a quick rise. But he forgot, or ignored the fact, that he actually has to produce. He will be done in regard to any head coaching job unless he redeems himself as a coordinator somewhere. Probably set himself back 5-10 years if not permanently.

Good showing today. 23 point loss to the #5 FBS is more than respectable. Samford has some rep points as well forcing the #2 FBS to settle for FOUR FGs. In games like that I expect one or maybe two at most. Not too shabby.

Our offense needs work that is for sure. Against what will probably be ranked #1 next week, however, our defense was close to unbelievable. We topped Oregon in most every category, and NO, this was not against the 3rd or deeper Georgia offenses. Georgia's substitution pattern was almost identical as that against the Ducks. Look at the video and you will see Stetson Bennett still in the game deep into the 3rd quarter. Just wish we could have had some more offense.

I'm not joking when I say that it's a non-zero probability that Wofford doesn't score until we play Samford, but only because Samford will probably score quickly/by volume enough that we slip something in. But even as I type this I remember how they fared against Kennesaw.

In the name of fairness, I need to mention that the 4th quarter was 12:00 minutes as agreed upon beforehand. That is still probably not much of a factor. I think it is offset by the fact that Samford emptied the bench also the last several minutes.

It’s obvious that CIT’s Coach Thompson is checking in here to get FUBeAR’s weekly tips…

Coach Thompson needs to remember how to run a true TO Offense (watch KSU or Davidson) and he needs to let Derrick throw the ball. If he doesn’t do those things, the CIT D is not settled in enough or maybe just not good enough to keep them in many ballgames.

Before FUBeAR Tip: 5 Passing Attempts in a game the bellhops trailed by 2 & 3 scores most of the way
After FUBeAR Tip: 12 Passing Attempts in a game they never trailed

Sorry Coach T - no tips for you this week!

People just don’t understand Josh Conklin. If the QB’s played better we would win. Unlike all those weak cheap-*SS teams out there we have 3 offensive coordinators, no one can stop our awesome offense by committee.

Next year, Conklin will be coaching linebackers at a G5 school somewhere. Unfortunately, our new coach will be selected by the same people who selected Conklin.
