Because that's exactly what we've got going on in Cullowhee.

Congrats to UTC. We saved Rodney Allison's job again.

FWIW, Western Carolina is the worst FCS team in America. I'd like to thank our inept chancellor, his staff, and Kent Briggs, the worst coach in FCS for taking Catamount football from at least .500 football to now 1 and 2 wins a year.

Hope you boys can sleep at night. BTW, Citadel beats us 55-14 next week.

GO CATS!!!

Bro, when I told you we'd be playing for last place, unfortunately, I wasn't kidding.

UTC went up on us 25-0 right out of the gate last night and while I will always pull for our kids, they deserve SO much better than they are receiving.

Our administration whored our football program out last year to appease certain boosters who are in Briggs's cadre of friends and look where we are. They are a damn joke who refuse to believe anything is wrong. I hate to say it, but until somebody grows a set in Cullowhee, it's gonna be 2nd verse, same as the 1st the next few years. Tell you more someday.

GO CATAMOUNTS!!!

BTW, shredded my ASU ticket this morning. Who the hell wants to drive 3 hours to watch the Mountaineers reem us worse than a hooker on nickel night?!

BTW App fans, congrats once again on winning the Jug in 2007. Your team, your staff, and your administration run a class program and you deserve everything you get recognition wise. Maybe someday, your mountain brethren can clean house and put people in place who want to win. Until then, you will keep owning our ass!

Should a 15 year head coach resign if he goes 1-10 and has a career record of 77-93?

I'm referring to Maine's Jack Cosgrove.

Hard to compare because it looks like it would take Briggs about 40-50 years to get to 77 winsxoopsx

Briggs at WCU:

2002 5-6
2003 5-7
2004 4-7
2005 5-4 (actually played ASU for a share of the SoCon title)
19-24 at this point

Young, energetic coaches leave Cullowhee at this point for personal/coaching reasons(wish I could tell more) and Briggs has 1 year left on contract, 2006. The cadre gets their wish with 3 years added, "dandy" Don Powers is dug up out of retirement to coordinate the defense, Briggs can only find young former Catamount players who have been coaching at the GA or high school level to round out his staff. FORWARD PLEASE!!!

2006 2-9
2007 1-6(and counting)
total 22-39

Ask anybody and they will tell you when assistants Geoff Collins, Matt Rhule, and Clayton White left Cullowhee in spring of '06, the heart and soul of the Catamount players went with them. He has lost 25 asst.coaches in 5 years plus and our administration(chancellor who would can football if he could and you can't convince me otherwise) acts as if nothing is wrong?!!!

I would like to apologize to the SoCon for having such inept leadership that's not even worthy of the Big South at this moment. PATHETIC!!!xmadx

It's hard for me to believe that a well-established program in such a beautiful setting couldn't attract a good young coach. What's with Briggs and the boosters? And what does the ole ball coach have to say to the press after a loss like this?

The same monotone BS he always states:

we competed,
we're close,
just got to come together,
we'll get in turned around.

I mean it's enough to make people sick!!!

We have a pregame Catamount team walk through the stadium lot where I tailgate, and the team seems about as interested in it as they would watching paint dry. Our "fiery" chancellor and Briggs lead the team during the walk, waving and smiling as best they can and you can hear crickets chirp.

Yet, this same chancellor has a police escort for our freaking marching band into Whitmire Stadium and while our band is good, it's things like this that have given our band the ego that when they perform they yell things like "OUR HOUSE" etc, etc.

We have been mandated by the UNC Board of Governors to grow enrollment and we have missed our goal the last 3 years. Oh sure, they'll tell you the numbers are growing and due to advance education and JC transfers, they have a point, but when it comes to freshmen enrollment, it's stagnant. But they are still there, all smiles.

It's an absolute joke and again, I apologize to the SoCon that such porous leadership exists both on and off the field in Cullowhee.

GO CATS!!!

Tell that to our brainiac. This administration has literally ran off long time, big $$$ donors due to their ineptness and overall general treatment of anybody not in their little circle of friends and somebody needs to call them out about it.

I could post things that would make your head spin about this leadership. You guys will OWN us November 10th and I'm glad I won't be making that trip.

Because that's exactly what we've got going on in Cullowhee.

You also forgot to add:

Should a 6th year head coach resign if he goes 1-10 AND upon accepting the job said he would stepdown IF he did not bring home a conference championship within 5 years (Western was never won a SoCon football championship and Briggs has continued this streak to date).

He's too prideful and from what I've been told, the athletic dept.budget won't allow a buyout. That's sad because all I've been told is how things are looking up. What a crock. Rumor had it 2 professors are looking into possible money mismanagement by the athletic dept. Take that for what it's worth, but I'm tired of this numbnut administration acting like they know what's good for Catamount fans when half of these people don't even attend road football games and see the REAL fans and supporters hitting the trail week after week.

I seriously may not go to HC this week I'm that damn mad!

No offense to the WCU fans but a win over the Catamounts should not turn down the heat on Allison. He is in his fifth season and has just 15 wins. I really feel that the Mocs need to win 4 of 5 (unlikely) for Allison to stay in chattanooga.

That being said I think it is time for Briggs to go too.

WARNING: MY OPINION!

Bobby, Bobby, Bobby... I have supported him since day numero uno. I have seen a decline in the program over the past few years. Our record might not show, but it has declined. The Ingle Years covered up some of his mistakes and Tirades, but this year, these are his recruits, his talent, and he needs to produce with it. WE HAVE GREAT PLAYERS! We need to be using them. We looked good in the Citadel game, even though we lost. We started to play Furman Football, the way we always have. WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN PLAYING LIKE THIS ALL YEAR AND MAYBE WE WOULDNT BE IN THIS POSITION! I hope he pulls a Jerry Moore and decides to light a new spark, or otherwise, the Lambs might be moving elsewhere.

Our record is 2-4. This is one of the worst starting records in Paladin Football History. After this, we are now playing for our pride.

With regards to WCU. I have never seen injuries to a team as WCU had last year.

I don't know anything about Coach Briggs but maybe, just maybe the Administration is making it impossible for him to succeed and he is doing his best with what he is given.

I don't know the answer to the question that started this string because I don't know if we have ever been in that exact position.

But you can go talk to the K-Sips (Koolaid sippers) on the ULL Ragin Cajun Delphi Board and they might could answer for you. Their coach is in his sixth year right now and looks like they may go 1-10 so they might have the right perspective to answer the question.

But becareful going to the K-sips board, their Koolaid has been getting very sour and they'll turn on you in a second. :)

That is all,

um... Hold on. Last year you were beset with key injuries and this year you lost a fine 20+ year behind the scenes co-head coach. It takes a while to coach new coaches. I am of the opinion BL will get the job done.I understand all of that. And I do not want BL to leave. The transition is never easy or fun, even tougher when it is after a firing. BL does not coach the way he played. He is way too conservative and appears at times unwilling to make changes in personel and plays to suit a particular situation. We are brimming with talent and are deep in every position. We have lost to less talented teams this season. But raw talent is only one ingredient in a successful program. A group of super talented individuals can lose every game they play.

What does a coach do exactly? Well, his primary job, if I'm not mistaken, is to take a group of testosterone addled, aggressive, talented individuals and mold them into a cohesive force of one with a single-minded goal of winning football games. We've got the talent, so what's missing from this and last years teams? Key injuries were a factor last year, but not this year.

I hope this will be a turning point for BL, but if not and we continue to decline, then xanim_chaix
