The Bears might be blowing their first chance to be #1 since 1956.
27-21 OSU with 8 minutes left.
Who do I cheer for? This is like Bush vs. Kerry again xbawlingx

Oregon State? Pull for the upset. If Oregon wants to win the Pac-10, a Cal loss would really help them out.

You're right 1951
Yeah but if Cal wins it looks better for the Ducks, but youre right opens the door back up for the Pac-10 title. I believe Cal will lose after this game before the season is out.

Beavers recover the onside kick.
This is the weirdest year in college football I've seen yet - and we're only half way done.

Big 10 deserves to be ripped.
Ohio State is playing as well as anyone but look at the rest of that conference.
Michigan is tied with OSU in conference but lost to App. State and was destroyed by Oregon.
Illinois is 5-2 after today and is about to lose its top 25 ranking after losing to a team that was 2-4 going into the day.
Wisconsin got demolished by Penn State today 39-7 and is about to lose its top 25 ranking.
When the new rankings come out, Ohio St will be 1 but the Big 10 won't have anyone else in the top 20. Michigan and maybe Penn St. will be in the top 25. That is horrible for the Big 10.

Have to put that one on the QB. All he had to do was throw it away and let them kick the chip-shot field goal.

You're right. What I don't get is how he didn't think to throw it away? Did he not know that there were only 10 seconds on the clock?

I think it's easy for him to get lost and try to get a TD in that situation. He saw a hole on the left side and VASTLY under-estimated the speed of the Oregon State defensive tackles.
Makes you wonder what a different team the Bears are like without Nate Longshore.

Not really. The kid played great until the last play, he panicked as a redshirt freshman and blew the game, but he played great all day. Who knows what would have happened if Nate had played.

What made the play worse was after he got tackled he got up and ran off the field - with the ball. He should have tried to line the team up and spike the ball. Probably not enough time for that, but there definitely wasn't enough time for the FG unit on the field.

I tell you what they wouldn't have relied on Forsett on 4 straight plays when OSU got that goal-line stand, which was IMO the defining moment of the game.

He ran off the field so the FG team could get on.

Didn't he run off with the ball? I think the FG team needed it.

I think he was totally confused, but I don't think he was running off because he was quitting.

I gotta admit after hearing Cal fans chant "We're number one" after LSU lost and seeing this whole thing play out made me chuckle.

That's the problem. The only way they had time for a FG is if they spike the ball and stop the clock FIRST. When the QB ran off the field he guananteed that the time would expire.
I'm not sure they time had to to spike the ball either, but running off the field was definitely the wrong play.
