Monmouth -- Santos' legend as a QB began by beating a school from New Jersey, no same such luck in Game 1 as HC
Rhode Island -- I'm going to say this is the year the Rams finally get back to the playoffs after almost 40 years
Villanova - Lehigh won't be a laughingstock this year, but they won't threaten the Wildcats
W&M - Tribe due for an FBS scalp and hungry to pad the at-large playoff resume early in the season
Navy - will be a reasonably close game unless Navy is improved at QB, expect refs to be a factor
Virginia - Cavs roll
Towson - Tigers overcome sluggish 1st half to outclass the Bison
Howard - calling the slight upset here
Baylor - probably biggest stage Albany football has ever played on, Bears put up a 50-burger and cruise
Vanderbilt - Commodores bring in a Top 40 recruiting class (unless they all decided to de-commit for new NIL deals) and have gotten recent FCS scares. Vandy by 10.
New Mexico - This game is probably a tossup. Lobos in OT.

Actually it began on Thursday September 2nd 2004, in Delaware. Santos, in his first game as a redshirt Freshman, led UNH to a huge upset win over the reigning 1-AA champs Delaware. Rutgers was the following Saturday.

Albany has played in bigger stadiums (Florida Atlantic, Pitt, Yale, Syracuse) but yes, this will probably be the biggest crowd.

Baylor regularly sells out its games. They open each game by letting the student body run the field.

Figuring y’all will ride these 5 ‘scalps’ over mostly horrible FBSINO Teams to get 4 or 5 CAA Teams with 6-5 records into the Playoffs, while 2 or 3 SoCon Teams with 8-3/7-4 records sit home cuz their FBS games are against Alabama, Georgia, and the likes.

I presume he wasn’t talking about size of stadiums rather about playing a Big XII team ranked in the top 10, with legit national championship hopes.

1) President Bush AND RGIII
2) Kinda reminded FUBeAR of watching a Yellow Ant Farm at work
3) Student body right on top of Visitors Bench, 20 rows deep & end-to-end. Even though Baylor is a Baptist school, FUBeAR bets those Albany Coaches & Players ears will sho’nuff be blistered after the game

I don't recall any CAA team making it at 6-5? Even Marty couldn't get that done.
And it's not our fault the SOCON hasn't figured out they can't beat SEC teams:

There was zero optimism in my comment. I wasn't joking either. I am waiting until I know if we have a kid that sounds like a bird playing QB for us until I decide how much of a mauling this game will be. Do I go 77-3 or do I go 66-10.

Hilarious! I know the feeling. I hope the Danes compete a bit and show better than expectations. I would think being within 35 points would be a good marker.

If we are within 35 points, even if we are talking mostly 3rd and 4th stringers from Baylor in the 2nd half, I will be breaking out the special scotch for a dram sipping. That would be a very good marker. Right now, shockingly, it seems that the ODU transfer has a leg up on the QB competition. I know he came from previously being recruited by Ambrose...but I would have thought he Colorado St. transfer would be the guy. However, the more I hear about Poffenbarger the more he reminds me of Tom Flacco in style of play and size (exact same size). Joey Carino seems to be in the second spot...also the same size as Poffenbarger. We know how Flacco turned out for Towson...and Reece is only a Soph...so this does make sense. Carino the same...and Vellece (the CSU transfer) is a grad student and is literally fourth on the depth chart now, with RS Fros Tyler Szalkowski in line for playing time as one of the three qbs.
Sounds like Gattuso is going to play three QBs vs. Baylor...and at least two for the first four games. So, let's see what happens.

Well you hope the coach goes in with a let’s win attitude. I remember how depressed I was when learning London was starting a freshman at QB at our first game at UVA last year. There were more experienced options. It just indicated to me that he wasn’t going to try and win the game.

Sort of quirky headline, "Albany QB competition narrows to 3 candidates". Guess it was wide open for sure. Maybe Massey is waiting on the QB decision as well as the spread is 36.5. Hoping the Danes have a great showing in Texas.

Welcome to the ****ing CAA
Please. You gotta be kidding? A win is a win and a loss is a loss but if you are proud of that win, it does not say much for UNH Football! You make it sound like you put a thumping on us. We self destructed. was an eve game and UNH was better upfront but we controlled TOP and yardage for much of the game and just did not capitalize. Blocked punt return for a TD, Pick 6, missed FG and we go for it on 4th and 10 from our own 25 with 5 min left!! Now listen you made the plays you had to and we did not but we were up 21-17 with the ball on your 30 with like 8 minutes left.. We ***** the bed.. No excuses but nobody that saw that game can walk away thinking UNH is a better team than Monmouth. With that said, UNH took full advantage of certain things and we did not but that was a very even game, be real man..

I would agree with you MUHawks that the game was even and the difference was turnovers. At one point in the 4th the announcers had the offense for both teams equal as well as the yardage for the QB's. Funny call to go for it on your own 25 with 4 plus minutes left.
In the other game the offense for URI looks like it could be tough to stop after putting 35 on SBU and throwing it all over the place in the 2nd half.
Any bets on a Ram poster this year:)

Yeah, I think most UNH fans are proud to get the win. Monmouth is a very solid team all around, Tony Muskett is the real thing - I can see why he was selected preseason 1st Team CAA QB. He is very smooth in the pocket, making just the right moves, but rarely getting completely flushed. His throws were generally very accurate except when he was clearly just throwing it away to avoid a sack. I didn't see any Monmouth receivers drop a pass all game. On defense the Linebackers played very well and I mistakenly thought they might be a weakness. UNH's offense was anemic in he 3rd Qtr as was Monmouth's in the 4th. One thing you may not have realized if you were watching the game on TV is that the wind played a factor. It wasn't super strong but it was blowing directly down the field and it adversely effected both team when they were playing into it. Absolutely it was an even game statistically with the difference being the pick six and the blocked punt returned for a TD. Good luck to Monmouth for the remainder of your season.

Proud to get the win sure, "welcome to the fkin CAA" implies that we did not belong or were in over our heads or got our a$$ handed to us. I am NOT a moral victory guy nor do I think there is such a thing as a bad win, so no issues here, UNH won it is what it is.. I just thought his tone implied you guys showed us about the big bad CAA..He seems to have clarified the comment in that drank a lot and more mean the CAA is all about winning those close games where 3-4 plays make the difference. No problem with that and I am not bitter towards UNH just our team who could not finish it off. Really could have went either way. Upfront was not great for us and yes our QB is good but very inconsistent.. Made too many mistakes in the 4th Qtr.. NO beef here just p*ssed at letting one slip away and again I thought the comment indicated that we were outclassed.. Enjoy the long weekend.

had a lot to drink tonight(too much)but… CAA is a game of unforgiving inches, could care less of how the game went. Tell that to JMU most of the years they visited us. Good luck the rest of the way. We were 3-9 last year…. Ooof…..
Fair enough. I would not care how the game went either if we had won, I thought you were implying with your comment that we did not belong and were outclassed. Yes, CAA games are about winning these type of games. I am all for free speech I do not get offended nor care what anyone says just I guess misunderstood the context. All good!

Goood morning, apologies, didn’t mean to come off like that. Liquid courage doesn’t get me often but we all have our nights. Anyways was a hard fought game by both teams, you guys have a great team and QB, moved the ball well. I wouldn’t have been surprised if we had lost. We have a rebuild going that I hope goes well over the next few years. From a competitive standpoint you guys are absolutely good enough to be in/compete in the CAA. I think you’ll really enjoy playing some of the teams over the next few seasons, creating new rivalries. I definitely also see you guys winning a decent amount of conference games this season.

Dude, were you picked on as a kidxeyebrowx
Can't you stay in your conference instead of blasting ours? Is there someone from the CAA that downplays you guys or is this just your personal pet peeve???

10 years for SBU in the CAA.
Ace, how do you like the 18.5 spread for the Huskies tomorrow? Watched just a little of the UConn game against Utah State but guess they looked improved from last year. Our HC from last year, Nick Charlton, made a difference as the Huskie OC??? Think all of my CT family is either a Blue Devil or Huuskie gradxnodx

The line has moved down to CCSU +16, indicating they money was put on CCSU. UConn has been so bad recently, that makes sense to the bettor. Honestly, this is a tough one. This isn't the same Coach P/Diaco/RE2 program. Jim Mora is a pro - UConn is getting better and on the right track. The question is how much progress has been made to date.
CCSU lost a lot of momentum after missing the COVID season (and the spring season). Last year we got off to a very cold start and had to regroup. We won 4 of our last 5, including wins over SFU and Bryant, and they just showed out very well last night.
The Blue Devils strength will be defense and against the run. We have a 2nd year QB who can do multiple things - but he's not a superstar. I expect this team to compete for the NEC AQ.
As for the game against UCONN - Central just can't ever get a big win and seems to be a hill too high. I put my $$$ on UConn and my heart with CCSU. I imagine the crowd will have strong support for Central as there are many older alumni from CCSC (College) that probably have kids and that went to UConn :)

Charlotte played really poorly, then great, then poorly. Very inconsistent throughout the night. I put that on coaching.

Our first leaderboard!! In the interest of my fingers, I shortened a few of the names.
We had one participant who had every pick correct, Dane96!! Unfortunately, Dane was delayed so missed the first two games.
CentralJerseycat and UNHwildcat18 finished as our leaders for this first week with 12 points each. Congrats!!
