I can't wait until JMU expands their stadium to 25-35,000....should be hearing the plans on that soon, but its been a long time coming and no word in about a year! xeyebrowx

Well, I can't wait until App expands either. Those are big numbers for a house that "seats" 16,650.

Tennessee Tech had 9,369 for last night's contest with Tennessee State.

So far this year we are averaging 9,132 in home attendance, by far the highest average in the past ten years at least.

A grand total of just over 4,000 at the Nicholls shalacting of Northwestern State last week. I would love for Nicholls to have an average about 7,000 but I don't think it'll happen any time soon.

They are expecting fair walkup attendance with Wake having already played and with them doing the big radio contest. But the kids are on fall break so I am afraid the atmosphere is going to be dead.

I hate it that every year the SoCon schedules a home game for us during our fall break.

Yes it was HC. Not sure why the Delaware attendance was only 7115. They also had 9560 for the Dartmouth game

Unfortunately despite the good football in the conference there are not a lot of strong rivalries in the CAA so you don't generally get big crowds for games based on the opponent within the CAA (with a few exceptions). For example UD has a strong "rivalry" with Villanova, but Nova has relatively few folks who care about their football program, so the rivalry is very one-sided in terms of fan interest. I have always been frustrated about this. I recall when I was in school at UD and I went to a game up at UConn (when they were still in the conference) expecting an atmosphere like Delaware Stadium. Boy was I disappointed.... I've since learned to lower my expectations.... :(

A lot of the CAA schools have nationally relevant teams in spectator sports other than football, leaving a football team that is competing for a title in a division lower than the highest as a bit of a second class citizen.

UConn and Villanova have Big East basketball... why watch UConn play Maine or UNH in football when you can spend your money on seeing UConn-Syracuse basketball? Look at UConn's uptick in attendance after going I-A, they are in a division commensurate to where their fans view them.

Southerners/westerners laugh at this, but it kind of holds for hockey, where a lot of the CAA North face off against and are on the same level as BC, the Big Ten schools, etc. You could spend your money sitting outside in the cold watching your team stagger around against Monmouths or William and Marys etc that you have no tie with, or you could shell out the $20 a ticket plus $1000 "donation" for two season tickets and watch a nationally ranked team play.

Winning makes a big difference though- look at UNH being over 10k this week.

Brown's the opposite. The stadium looks about 60 or 70% full of an "official" 20,000 seat capacity, but then you find only 6000 people were at the game.

I think the downturn in attendance vs. UD was from the loss the week before to richmond.
