Who are some of the players you are most excited to see return to the field, that missed at least 6 games last season due to injury?

For Griz fans it is Marcus Knight.

Alex Ramsey, RB, The Citadel…

…has not played since he was the SoCon’s leading rusher in 2019…while playing for VMI.

Covid opt-out in 2020 & serious pre-season leg injury in 2021.

Matt Sochovka, DL, Furman…Went down for season in 2021 season opener vs NC A&T. Has started 14 games over his career & was expected to have a stellar season in 2021.

Ivan Yates, CB, Furman…started 1st 4 games a R-FR and played quite well before going down for the final 7. Paladins will warmly welcome his talent back to the Secondary.

Cally Chizik, CB, Furman..yep, Coach Gene Chizik’s boy. Played a lot as a True FR in 2019 and made numerous impactful big plays. Continued to impress in 2020, getting 1 start, but missed the final 2 games with injury and did not play at all in 2021.

Kyndel Dean, WR, Furman via JMU…did not play for the Dukes in 2021 due to injury and followed his Position Coach to Furman via the transfer portal for 2022. In the prior 4 years at JMU, he saw action in 36 games and registered 20 starts for the Dukes. As a redshirt freshman in 2018 he earned starts in all 13 games and collected Hero Sports Freshman All-America honors after catching 47 passes for 614 yards and five touchdowns. In 2019 he was credited with 20 receptions for 263 yards and a score. He played in all eight of JMU's games in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.

Hollis Mathis QB- Played in only four games after Spring 21 shoulder surgery. Was 2019 starter as true freshman.

Ethan Yip CB- Took starting job as true freshman and was outstanding until suffering hand injury that required surgery.

Davin Dzidzienyo DT- Scheduled to play as true freshman until knee injury in August camp.

For NDSU RB Dominic Gonnella and LB Luke Weerts, both going into their junior years. Gonnella had a very good spring season as a true freshman but played sparingly in the fall due to nagging injuries before missing the final 7 games of the season. Weerts had a lot of hype when he was recruited but has yet to make a significant impact outside of special teams. He played the first 3 games last fall before missing the rest of the year.

Also curious to see how QB Mark Gronowski looks for SDSU coming off his knee injury in the spring natty against Sam Houston, specifically if he will be as effective a runner now as before the injury. If he completely regains his form I think they are right up there with NDSU as national title favorites. They also have Oklahoma State transfer Landon Wolff returning at WR, he only played about 5 minutes in the season opener last fall before tearing his ACL.

UNH QB Max Brosmer. He missed all of 2021 due to a torn ACL a couple weeks before the season started. Had the surgery in the Fall of 2021 he should be done with his rehab. Max was CAA Rookie of the week twice as a Freshman in 2019.

Sure hope he doesn't have too much rust on him. Expected good things before he got hurt last year. He could be a game, season changer.

And I’m pretty sure Henderson could be a seventh year senior in 2023 if he chooses, Covid year and medical redshirt approved

Towson - Jesus Gibbs - DL - 2021: Limited due to injury (Torn ACL), starting in four games on defensive line... notched 15 tackles and three tackles-for-loss, having at least five tackles in final two games played... in final game played on the year, had five tackles, two for loss, at FBS opponent San Diego State (9/25).

I would add Spencer Waege, DE, NDSU as well. Hoping for a big year out of him.

Good call, totally forgot about him. Like Weerts he’s had a lot of hype ever since he signed.
