Oh, and it's not @ 8:30, Travis. The game is at 5:30. The fact that you're in the wrong timezone is irrelevant.

FYI: I went to buy tickets, and ticket prices are 4-5 X higher than for a regular season game.
Upper level, 300 section tickets which are $11 for a regular season game are $60 freaking dollars!!! Ain't no way I'm gonna pay $240 to bring my wife and 2 kids, then spend $15 to park, etc., etc., etc. I'd be into that ONE game for over $300 before I could blink an eye!
Seats behind home plate ($29) now cost over $150!!! Ridiculous. xsmhx xsmhx xsmhx xsmhx xsmhx xsmhx

Fenway Capacity was 38,805 for a night game in 2006.. Dont know if they added seats this past winter.
Boston population is 590,763 and the median income for a household is $39,629.
Chase Field has a capacity of 49,033 based on 1998 numbers.
Phoenix has a population of 1,512,986 or more then 900,000 more then Boston they also have a slightly higher median income of $41,207.
xreadx
PS With an extra 10,000 seats it would have only taken another 4 or 5 minutes for Fenway to sell out, you sure as hell wont find tickets at game time at the box office.

Embarassing night for the DBacks fans, between the water bottles and the poor attendance. Starting to challenge ATL for the worst sports city.
I don't like the interference call, but that play was similar to what Marlon Anderson of the Mets did against the Phils this year, and that call was made to end the game. They are at least being consistent.

Two things....48,000+ thousands fans is not poor attendance...
People bag on Arizona fans for being apathetic - they were anything but apathetic last night - they boo'd for over 10 minutes straight. It was the umps that pulled the Rockies off the field - because the umps knew they were screwing the game up with crappy play calling.
And Arizona fans did something you'd never see in other cities - the water bottle throwers were ID'd by other fans, and turned over to security and arrested.

Ain't that the truth.
The Dbacks actually hit the ball harder off Francis than the Rockies did Webb - the Dbacks were all at Rockies, though. Take Helton's first hit/run - a wild slap at the ball.
Everything that could go wrong for the Dbacks did, and they were still in the game. We'll get them tonight!

Ah yes, whenever another city displays boorish behavior by their fans the invaribale connection to Philly is made. Funny, I don't recall the Philly fans stopping any game this year due to throwing material on the field for several minutes. Must have missed that one. xrolleyesx
And as for the quality of the fans, again, it's strange that when something close to this happens in Philadelphia the first reaction is to castigate the fans and say what a bad group they are. But just as when the Cleveland Brown fans ended a game prematurely by pelting officials on the field with plastic beer bottles, here's a comment saying that this awful behavior of heaving water bottles onto the field from the upper deck, as the Arizona fans did last night, should be seen in the good light that the fans were at least showing that they cared. Doesn't Arizona have great fans now! Oh, and then blame the umps for it. xrolleyesx
Oh, and people get caught and arrested for this type of behavior in every city, Arizona isn't the first to catch perpetrators by having their fellow fans ID them - happens all the time elsewhere when fans behave, like they did in Arizona last night, badly.

I don't like the interference call,
I think that the interference call was correct. What I'm interested in was how the base runner who made it to third was moved back to second.
I realize that this is what it says in the rule book, but why was the rule written this way? My thinking is, if the interference had not taken place, and the double play was completed, this base runner would have been on third anyway.

Oh, get off your high horse, Rich. ;) You know damned well Philly fans are cannonized for being "emotional" and "dedicated" and "true" fans, but they have possibly the worst reputation in all of sports. So, yes, when another team's fans act the way AZ fans did last night, it is inevitable that the actions be compared to Philly fans. Wear it as a badge of courage, man! xthumbsupx xthumbsupx xthumbsupx
Personally, I was just glad to see the place exhibit ANY emotion, since this season it was like a morgue in there. It's worse than Suns games.....
