Harvard's schedule has been out since August. We open the season at D-II Morehouse, then off to Asheville to face ULL and ETSU or Elon.

No more MIT, but Tufts and Morehouse are still there. Thankfully, there's the Ramblers (at Lavietes!), the Jayhawks, and UC Irvine to salvage it... quite tougher than the past few seasons. xcoffeex

SDSU has disappointing loss to a solid Akron team 81-80 in OT. It’s okay though because we’re a football school officially.

Not a great day for the Summit, expect it to be a below average conference like usual. St. Thomas was impressive though against a Top 10 team in Creighton, will be interesting to see how the Tommies do in year two of D1. Temple took down hated rival #16 Villanova Friday night! Huge win for McKie and the program after laying an egg in OT loss to Wagner to open the season.

DePaul beat Loyola (MD) and WIU to start 2-0. They head to the Twin Cities Monday night to take on the Gophers.

Broke SDS 17 game home winning streak.

Montana (2-3) opened the season with tough losses to Duquesne and Xavier, the latter of whom is a top 40 team according to Sagarin. The Griz followed up these loses with wins over St. Thomas and Merrimack at the Zootown Classic, before losing the final game the weekend to Troy.

After playing local NAIA team MSU-Northern next week, Montana will finish out their non-conference schedule with games against Air Force, Southern Miss, South Dakota State, North Dakota State, Prairie View A&M, and Gonzaga. Honestly, I will be surprised if Montana wins any of these games, aside from the tilt against MSU-Northern.

Lehigh's win streak reached 8 before losing by 2 points to Army. Second loss to Army this year and each by two points! Except for Colgate, the PL is pretty balanced. Lehigh in second place at 8-3, face Laughyette tomorrow, then travel to Hamilton. I don't see anyone beating 'gate unless they have " one of those nights". They have size and 3 point ability. Lehigh can shoot it, but missing out on size. They have a 7'1" "project" from Cameroon, who is a physical stud, but needs to develop ball handling skills. I have recommended they send him to our local community college this summer and take one of their Juggling Classes to develop his dexterity!

Lehigh received a rude welcome in Hamilton, losing to the Raiders by 20+. We were missing a starter and another who comes off bench, but I doubt the result would have been much different. Lehigh is in second place in the Patriot with a 9-4, and Colgate is 12-1. They will easily be the #1 seed come tournament time. A real dog fight for remaining top 3 positions, but barring a ice cold shooting night and lackadaisical play, I don't see anyone taking them down.

Lehigh laid a huge egg tonight and shat the bed in their home court, losing to Laughyette by 6 in the PL quarterfinals. The team was horrendous and entered as the 3rd seed. They were not ready to play and credit to the Leotards, they were ready for bear. With their head coach suspended for balance of season, they obviously entered the tournament with a 'nothing to lose" attitude. Lehigh's coaching was lousy. First, the team was not ready. Lafayette was up 41-18 at the half! Second, late in the second half Lehigh made a run and pulled within single digits, but for some unknown reason the coach decided not to foul the 66% FT shooting 'pards. So the clock drained away until it was too late. One of the most embarrassing losses in Lehigh recent history. Reed has been HC a long time and is generally liked, but one has to wonder if he's become complacent.

Furman has not been to the NCAA Hoops Tournament since 1980, when FUBeAR was a R-FR. The Paladins had a stretch of bad years, but mostly, and particularly in the past 8-10 years, they have been good - consistent 20+ game winners, but have never been able to get over the hump and win the SoCon Tourney. Former LSU Coach Will Wade is hired by McNeese. In a proactive move anticipating NCAA penalties incurred by Wade during his time at LSU, McNeese has assessed penalties and guidelines on Coach Wade such as his being suspended from coaching the first five games of the 2023-2024 and various restrictions on recruiting and weekly meetings with the McNeese compliance director.

Coach Wade and two assistants are already in Lake Charles and others are on the way. Wade has at least five players ready to sign and they will be at McNeese this summer.

McNeese Junior-to-be and basketball stud Christian Shumate is planning to enter the transfer portal and wants to be closer to his hometown of Chicago. Whoever gets him will be getting a very good basketball player and a fine young man.
