Four finalists: 1. Ambassadors, 2. Blue Fog, 3. Revolutionaries and 4. Sentinels.

1. Sounds like a brand of expensive and tasty hotdogs.
2. I didn't like it at first but it is growing on me as unique. Now the Velvet Fog- that was Mel Torme
3. Too long. If you shorten it to Revs it sounds like a preacher. They would probably use Che Guevarra as a mascot.
4. Sentinels. I held office as the Sentinels (and later the VP) in FFA. Don't shorten it to the Sents (confused with Scents & Cents)

Agree - Sentinels is best of the 4. Thought the same about Che for 3. As GW was never, himself, an Ambassador. His 1753 mission was as an Emissary much more than that of an Ambassador, that one shouldn’t win. Reckon if “Emissaries” was on the list?

Gotta admit though - BLUE FOG is really good & quite apropos - for reasons upon which FUBeAR might elaborate within the Political Forum.

Yeah...
I hope tomorrow liberals don't think my name offends anyone and I don't have to change it.

They should become the Colonels. Then it is just a slight spelling change.

The CAA will be changing it's name next. NCA&T alumni were told this at a townhall meetings when the announcement was made about our conference change to the CAA. Conference officials offered no dates for the name change, but assurances that the discussions were under way and a new name was coming soon. I for one look forward to the change.

All depends on what your name is...IJS.

Next up, I want to see the schools with mascots call the "Rebels" be changed. The name rebel in and of itself is not offensive...I have a Ram 1500...and I think the Ram Rebel trim is an awesome name. Can't be opposed to someone who "bucks the trend" or the establishment. What I don't like is when the mascots pay homage to those traitorous confederates that started and fought a war against my beloved United States or America. Those traitors should be banned to the back pages of our history books, as they don't deserve the honor of their names even being spoken...let alone having there names on statues, schools, roads, or government buildings. I wouldn't even give them grave sites.

Delaware fans want out of the CAA from what I’m reading

Delaware fans want out of the CAA from what I’m reading

Can't say I have any knowledge of what Delaware fans want. I can say as an outsider, I don't understand why UD or NDSU are still FCS programs? Both schools are like the flagship institutions in their respective states. Why any flagship school would want to be in FCS is beyond me. I get it that both schools are in small states, but coming from a state like NC where we have like 7 FBS programs UD and NDSU are a bit strange...and don't fit in the FCS. In NC the two flagship schools UNC and NC State are P5 public schools along with a couple private schools (Duke & WF). The other FBS schools are far from "flagship", but have positioned themselves to become FBS programs for several reasons...they know full well they don't have a shot at the national title, but that's not the point.

I'm a little less concerned with Delaware wanting to leave...I'm sure there are plenty of other FCS programs that would gladly take their spot....my questions, at least for discussion would be, "Why would Delaware stay in the CAA", and "Where would Delaware go if they decided to leave". No way they would go to another FCS league...that's a lateral move at best. Delaware should be positioning itself for a move to FBS. As for NDSU, that as been discuss to death...they are in a flyover state, and that says it all right there. Low population, low media market, not a travel destination. Even if they wanted to go FBS...who would want them.

I don’t have answers for you unfortunately

The general gist is fans are just not excited about the new and improved CAA schedule and replacing traditional rivals like Richmond and William & Mary for Campbell and Hampton…. Drive to the Tidewater area and no Williamsburg but Hampton just not popular with the flock.

As far as FBS, obviously Delaware is all dressed up with no prom date. Lots of upgrades to facilities but not even a rumor on any talks about trying to move up

Many fans do recognize NC A&T as a tradition rich program, I’m looking forward to playing the Aggies

As a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, I would have preferred the George Washington Freemasons. Our first President was a dedicated Mason.
And if George Mason U doesn’t like it, they can lump it.

Get your AD to renew our old rivalry! from the 1950's until 2005, for so, UD v. Lehigh was one of the best east coast rivalries. I have been at a great number of Blue Hen v. Engineers/Mountain Hawks games and they were always spirited. We even offered two visits to New-ark versus one to Bet'lem, but turned down.

AS for the GW nickname, my preference would have been the "Woodchoppers"...First President known for his famous 'wooden teeth' (yes, we know they were/are ivory). xsmiley_wix

If you gotta go into Pennsylvania would much rather see Delaware play Lehigh instead of Penn State this fall
