Good crowd, good weather. I guessed about 21,000.

Dartmouth didn't bring many fans down at all. Even their Marching Band was unusually tiny.

Their band was only about 15 or 20 people when I saw them two years ago at Brown, were they much smaller?

For Brown's game today vs. Holy Cross, it was 4,805 total fans!!

There was probably about 15-20 people in the Dartmouth Band today. In years past, when they travel to Yale, their band was much larger. Their band was so small today, I couldn't even hear them at halftime.

Alot of people never made it in from the tailgate. Plus it almost hurts us that the weather was so nice because alot of people in New Hampshire do other things outdoors. My GF left to go the beach with her family that was visiting. Homecomming next week will be a around 13 to 15K.

We are questioning the attendance total.

I believe someone missed a few people. More like 17, 500 attendance is a better guess.

UNH vs Delaware, 10/6 at UNH: 7115 in attendance

I have to say I am disgusted with the lack of fan support for this program!!! Yes, the stadium is old; yes it only seats 6500. But we have been a playoff team for 3 straight years and have one of the best offenses and the best QB in the country. The Wildcats are 2-2 coming off as tough a stretch of games as anyone in 1AA, and a game against a 5-0 Delaware team on a great day draws less fans than we averaged all of last year! Fans should be flocking to this place to see 2 good teams play and also realize it is not against the rules to, like, cheer!!!

How many people l(roughly) live in a 50 mile radius of Boone, NC? I'd like to compare population with attendance figures.

Well, Watauga county (where Boone is) has about 43,000 people. Attendance at ASU games this year has been over 27,000 each game. I'm not sure about the 50 mile radius, but nevertheless, its interesting to look at it like that.

ASU gets great student support (at least 6,000 per game) and more locals have jumped on the band wagon, but what is remarkable about all these big crowds is the core fan base lives 2-3 hours from Boone. Most of these folks arrive 3-4 hours prior to kickoff to begin tailgating. A huge factor has been changing our game times to 3:30. It allows those with young kids to do the Saturday morning thing and others to get early morning things taken care of and still get to the game.

!!!What a great idea, changing game time to 3:30. It certainly makes sense, up here we probably would have to start at 2pm to get the game in before dark (we have no lights). Interesting that so many of your fans come from so far away.

2pm starts would be great.

But light could become an issue.

I remember the plan incase of OT in the playoffs a couple of years ago would be to move the whole thing to the practice field where they do have lights.xeekx

I wonder how much it would cost to install lights now and if it could be done and still accomodate the new stadium plans. We'd be money ahead, I think, if it brought people to the games.

I was told by someone in the "know" at UNH that a lot of people cancelled coming to Saturday's UD game because we lost to Richmond the week before. That's pathetic if true!!! I mean, what does it take to get New Hampshire fan support????

I realy liked the 2:30 start - there's still ample time for tailgating (we started at about 9:30 am), and I was able to get out of Boone by about 7:15 pm (could have been sooner), which put me back in Richmond around 12:30. A 3:30 kickoff pushes everything back, but we'll see how that goes on the 20th.

This was my first drive down Highway 421 towards Winston-Salem off the mountain (I usually take 321 and visit family). I was pleased to see a relatively steady stream of Mountaineer fans as far East as Durham (over 150 miles). Once I hit the Virginia line, I was the only guy with an ASU sticker on his car.
