We all know that football season is here. And we also know how well or not well our college teams are. But how's your favorite high school doing?
The Mighty Hillsborough (Tampa) Terriers are 5-0 behind a stout defense lead by Florida State bound Moses McCray.

Well I guess it's time to boast.

MY former high school (the good ol Hamilton Broncs) is 5-0 in Class A Montana ball (ie the quarterback is also a safety, the way God intended)

The Helena High Bengals, of Helena, Montana, are 4-2! And they are rolling. A couple more hard opponents though. And they will be featured at halftime on the next two NFL Sunday night football games! The Helena vs. Capital game is the 3rd biggest rivalry in all of High school football nationwide!

My high school was never known for football - more success in basketball and track as we traditionally have had skinny, fast kids.

Our only trip to state in the history of the football program came in 1989 when the team had both Trev Alberts (of Nebraska fame and later the Colts) and Matt Hilliard, who had a very good career at Iowa.

Right now the team is 3-1, as the current coach (alum of the school and former long snapper at Iowa) has turned the program around. Go Panthers!

As a side note, my high school plays its home games in the fabulous UNI-Dome.

My high school has been terrible at football for the last four years. Centennial high school (in Roswell, GA) is 2-3 this year. Last year, they were 2-8 and the year before 1-9. The school is just waiting for basketball season. Last year they made it to the finals and lost the state championship by 1 point.

The Hun School is 3-0, following a recent win over Penn Charter. They stand at 1-0 in the Mid-Atlantic Prep League (MAPL) and host local rival Lawrenceville School this Saturday.

Liberty High School in Bethlehem, PA is 5-0, #3 ranked AAAA team in the state (4 classifications), #21 in ESPN's High School rankings and seemingly on a path to get blown out in the state title game for the 3rd straight year.

Not bad for a team that went 13-30-1 my 4 years there. I could be off by one or 2 in the W/L column there, but I know there was exactly 1 tie.

To be honest, all I care about is that they run up the score on Becahi (aka Bethlehem Catholic High) every year.

We don't get big crowds, but the kids play their butts off. Some of my fondest memories are from playing on that often muddy field (now they squeezed a bunch of money out of us alumni and replaced it with FieldTurf).

When you get right down to it, High School football is the purest form of the game. Nobody makes any money and it's all about sweat equity.

I didn't recall that it was Penn Charter, but it was some northeastern private school. Great book, like "A Separate Peace", "This Side of Paradise" and, more recently, "Dead Poets' Society". Ethan Hawke, a graduate of Hun, was in "Dead Poets'" and did a nice job.

Nice, I live a few blocks away from Liberty and there never ending construction project. The school is currently doubling in physical size, but the project looks as nothing has been accomplished all summer.

But we do sport some hideous uniforms!!

My high school is having a bad year. There is a racial controversy because the white coach is not playing a black quarterback and the quarterback's mother is pressing assault charges against the coach ... it appears to be a mess.

Maybe Wofford can somehow use this to get Spartanburg High School out of Gibbs Stadium.

My Alma Mater:

Hahnville High School Tigers - Boutte, LA
5-0
Ranked #8 in Class 5A (Louisiana's highest classification)
HUGE rivalry game this Friday night versus parish rival Destrehan High, who is also 5-0 and ranked #3 in Class 5A

Hahnville is the Alma Mater of Washington Redskins safety LaRon Landry; Baltimore Ravens DB Dawan Landry; Southern QB Bryant Lee; Southern Illinois RB Craig Turner & West Virginia WR Darius Reynaud.

Destrehan High is the Alma Mater of Baltimore Ravens DB Ed Reed.

But I think our guys look pretty good in the purple and gold:

My brother ran into an old classmate who's one of the contractor working on it. The oldest building is over 80 years old, so they're completely renovating it, plus they tore out the "old" gym and swimming pool, but apparently they're finally getting one. Guess the Freedom parents are going to start bitching about that too! xlolx Liberty never had a regulation sized pool, just some rinky-dink thing in the basement. Sucks for the kids currently there that they have to deal with it.

The Fargo South Bruins visit The WEST FARGO PACKERS Friday night at 7PM, in West Fargo, North Dakota.

There are players from both schools starting for the BISON, the best known of course is Tyler Roehl. Future BISON will be on the Field in West Fargo Friday night.

This is a great match up. 6-0 Bruins vs. 4-2 PACKERS, always a threat.

Wish I could make that game, the winner will have a lead on the number one spot in the playoffs. Senior High is 5-1, winning with their running game and defense, but I'm not sure how they match up with West this year.

My ole Highschool is 1 and 3 on the season Crystal Springs....3A.

The best team in the south, THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH PANOLA ran their streak to 64 and 0 in 5A ball here.
The new coach has added a passing game this year.
They might throw it 10 times a game now. xlolx

Can't believe what they did to Super 10 C/L Poll Clarksdale who was the #2 team in Mississippi when they played.
42-0.................Which is unbelievable if your from this area.

The next #2 team, Oak Grove, is next.

My high school is known for possibly being one of the worst 4A football school (though we are the best at basketball).
