Composition of participating teams:
8 Major League Soccer
10 United Soccer Leagues First Division
6 United Soccer Leagues Second Division
16 Amateur (8 USL Premier Development League, 8 USASA regional qualifiers)

MLS teams had byes til Round 3 and in round 3 MLS went 3-5 all with matchups against USL 1st and 2nd Division teams. Including losses for Los Angelas, DC United, Chicago, CD Chivas USA and Houston. FC Dallas advanced on penalties. The Revs scored nearly as many goals (4) as the other 7 MLS teams (5) in the round.

Not sure how important the US Open Cup is nowadays...

Dynamo was so busy between several tournaments (SuperLiga and the CONCACAF Championships) and regular season play that they played their reserve team in the US Open Cup and went out.

MLS is trying to take things on outside of the MLS. It's tiring out these squads. Hope they're able to accomplish something...
