LAKE CHARLES, La. - Quarterback Derrick Fourroux passed for two touchdowns, ran for one and totaled 237 offensive yards in leading No. 6 ranked McNeese State to a 31-7 non-conference victory over South Dakota here Saturday.

The Cowboy sophomore completed 12 of l17 passes for 183 yards and had td tosses of 33 yards to Quinten Lawrence and four yards to Brandon Broussard. He also ran for a team high 54 yards on 13 carries and scored on a four yard run.

McNeese, now 4-0 on the season, held a 21-0 first half lead and was up 28-7 at the end of three quarters.

"It’s good to be 4-0," Cowboy head coach Matt Viator said following the game. "We played a little vanilla but we hung in there and got the win. Give South Dakota credit. They came in with a good game plan. They’ve got a good quarterback and a good running back."

McNeese totaled 432 yards in the game while the Coyotes, now 3-2, picked up 324, more than half of them produced by running back Amos Allen who ripped off 176 yards on 24 carries.

The only score for South Dakota came in the third period with quarterback Noah Shepard going over from the one.

After a scoreless first quarter, McNeese got on the boards at the start of the second period with Fourroux hitting Lawrence for the score from 33 yards out. That was a nine play, 95 yard drive which was helped along by 26 yard completion to Carlese Franklin, a 14 yard run by Toddrick Pendland and a 17 yard gallop by Fourroux.
