Still don't know if this was primarily due to the virus or a new way of business. Lots of kids or parents might not have been able to do in person visits, meet coaches face to face, etc. Wish they broke it out by class as well to see if there was an actual trend.
Notably, and perpetually absent will be us and VMI. Nobody, who is not an incoming freshman, would go or transfer to either school. Except grad transfers in our case where they are not cadets. A rising stud Jr is not going to subject themselves to being a rat or knob.

Seems to be many undergrad programs available that wouldn’t require an undergraduate transfer athlete to join the Corps of Cadets.
Is FUBeAR wrong…again?

No it's definitely possible. Just highly unlikely. We do have a vet student on the team. For the first time in like 30 years or something like that. So it happens. Pretty sure we've never had a night student play.

Great info, may have to keep an eye on Alambama State, that could be a great thing or it could backfire as well.
Might have been neat to see what FCS schools lost to the transfor portal as well.

He's not mentioned in the top 16 listed in this thread, but Anthony Britton was outstanding for SLU in spring practice. Not sure what happened, or why he left The Citadel, but he's a huge upgrade and our staff loves him.

Who knows. Could have been any number of reasons, academics, personal, family. We don't normally lose someone in his class to transfer.

Maybe I misunderstood your comment, but it isn't that we wouldn't want them, but an upperclassman from another school would not transfer and join either Corps and subject themselves to the freshman systems at either school. That's why we are relegated to having only grad transfers who are not part of the Corps of Cadets. And VMI none since they don't offer graduate degrees. We've gotten a few good grad student the last few years.

Yeah…FUBeAR thought that’s what you meant and you may be on to something.
We might see FCS Football going to different recruiting parameters, different offenses, etc. to increase Player retention…get more of those ‘average’ Players that are never going to attract FBS attention, but can be molded cohesively into a winning Football Team. It’s been done that way before by a few SoCon Teams…maybe others as well. Will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
1st, though, we’ll need to see what comes out of this NCAA Constitutional Restructuring / Overhaul … whatever it is. That, along with NIL, and the Xfer Portal will determine what college football, perhaps college sports overall, looks like in the next 10-20 years.
