appears to have won a job with the Rams.

The long wait is over: Rams reclaim Cup

For the first time in four years, the Cup is back in St. Louis!

Thanks to some plucky play by former Harvard quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, and a couple of clutch holds by the St. Louis defense, the Rams dispatched Dick Vermeil and the Kansas City Chiefs 27-23 on Friday in the almost-annual Governor's Cup game.

The Rams rallied from a 20-10 deficit in the second half behind Fitzpatrick, the seventh-round pick who has wrested the No. 3 quarterback job away from Jeff Smoker.

Sam: Do you mean Martz is crazy for picking Fitzie over Smoker, or he's just plain crazy? Ryan outplayed Jeff and earned the job, IMHO.

Mike Martz just plain sucks.

Fitzpatrick should go to Med School.

Former NU Linebacker Liam Ezekiel was signed to the Bills practice squad as well.

1. Fordham's Aki Jones was signed to the Redskins practice squad as well.

2. Martz actually announced prior to this game that Fitz had made the team (may have even been prior to the next to last pre-season game). The only question was whether or not they would keep 4 and have Smoker make the squad as well. Kudos to Fitz on clearly beating him out soundly ... and very quickly I might add.

3. Sam Adams, while Martz may be a knucklehead, what does that have to do with Fitzpatrick making the team? ... or with you insinuating that he should pick a different career than trying to make it on an NFL squad after not only having an incredible collegiate career but also doing so well in camp that he beat out the guy (Smoker) that was supposed to be a no brainer for the spot and was actually expected to compete for the backup job when he went to the Rams?

Hasn't played a down yet. With the way the Rams are going, I expect that to change.
