SIU beat Indiana State 72-10.
Skinny Uncle,
Was this a case of 2nd and 3rd stringers contributing for SIU or were the Salukis playing "Jerryball" running it up on a hapless Sycamore squad? If it's the latter that's despicable.

If the Griz went undefeated in Big Sky play and beat UNI, Wofford, and SIU by a combined 500-0, you wouldn't vote them #1 anyway.

Three different QBs played. Hill sat out the second half. Five different running backs scored. DT Larry Luster got his second TD of the season on an INT return. The last TD was by the fourth string freshman tailback (White) who just had his redshirt pulled off last week.

Thanks for the clarification. Good grief, things couldn't get much worse for ISU.

JMU took apart a good Villanova team 35-7. Final score wasn't as close as it sounds. JMU 21-zip, Nova 47 yards offense at the half. JMU QB Rodney Landers racked up 370 yards (300 passing) and 4 TDs (2 rushing, 2 passing).

After changing coaches in mid-season, facing a top 10 team is a pretty tough task. The Salukis are deeper and more balanced this season than usual. The Sycamores never really had a chance.

I'm with you when you say that ISU never had a chance. What surprises me is that SIU's 2nd and 3rd teamers were going out and having their way with the Sycamores, provided that it was ISU's first team O and D. See you in the friendly confines of the UNI-Dome in a couple of weeks.

Don't really believe you can be ranked #1 unless you win on the road. Ohio State last year is an example.
First road playoff game or semifinal loss for UM. Same thing last year.
I wish there was a yellow brick road around. If we only had an offense.

Griz haven't played on the road yet, so...?
Griz lost in the semi's last year at home, so...?

Basically what I'm saying is that playing few road games (i.e. no non-conference road games) makes you weak and soft in comparison to your overall talent. Also makes you overrated. Thus, I don't see Montana winning a road playoff game nor a late playoff game at home. Ohio State is the worst of this, at least from my view, especially given that they'll have max two difficult road games in the Big 11.

Yeah I pointed it out last week and took quite the beating for it. Still a valid question though. They are not #1 in my opinion but that is just my opinion as a fan not an ambassador or representative of any given organization. Thought I better have that disclaimer for some ;)

??? UMass shouldn't fall at all in the poll. We gave BC, the DI 12th ranked team, their toughest game of the year, with their supposed Heisman qb doing not much.
If we were ranked anywhere outside of the top five, the argument would be that we move up because of this game.

McNeese won its game but lost its top running back (who was averaging 7.4 yards per carry). They've now had two fangs pulled as Steven Whitehead...who was their top receiver as well as an All American return specialist...was lost in their second game against Louisiana Lafayette. I don't know if Whitehead will be back this year but the running back...Jamie Leonard...broke his ankle so he won't be.
Leonard's loss is, to me, big. McNeese has a number of good backs but there was a distinct difference between Leonard and the others. Not that the others are bad, but he was really good. He's a senior so I guess his college playing days are over.

Old Cage, I agree with you about how well we played. I also agree that we shouldn't move down at all, but we definitely shouldn't move up either. I don't think any team should ever move up with a loss, no matter who it is against or how well they played. Plus, I wouldn't want to be #1 right now.

You may not fall but you certainly will not go up in the polls after a loss xrotatehx

"I just tweaked it again," Coen said about his knee. "It was a blessing that I had the brace on already. If I didn't, I don't know what would have happened. It felt really bad at first, but it felt better after a while."
You will usually here it here first:

John, keep watch on Elrick Jones, I'm hoping he will be breaking out soon with some more carries. He has speed and he has more power than it appears by just looking at him.

Elrick is reported to be one fastest players on the team (top 4 or 5) so when he gets comfortable I think he will be just fine. Power with Bush and Hubbard and a lot of slashing speed with Jones and Pendland xnodx

The Salukis could have scored 150. It was 55-10 at the half and Kill called off the dawgs, literally. SIU scored on 8 straight possessions in the game. Indiana State is really bad.
