With the Boston Red Sox clinching the AL East last night and Cleveland winning the matchups are set.

Boston Red Sox vs Los Angelas Angels of Anaheim

Cleveland Indians vs New York Yankees

What still needs to be decided is who gets which series schedule. Cleveland and Boston are locked in a battle for the best record in baseball and until thats decided the schedules are unknown. Boston can clinch the best record as early as today with a win and Cleveland loss. Boston owns the tie breaker with the Indians.

***UPDATED***

ALDS #1
Game 1: October 4 - New York at Cleveland TBS
Game 2: October 5 - New York at Cleveland TBS
Game 3: October 7 - Cleveland at New York TBS/TNT
Game 4: October 8 - Cleveland at New York TBS
Game 5: October 10 - New York at Cleveland TBS

ALDS #2
Game 1: October 3 - Los Angelas at Boston (Beckett) TBS
Game 2: October 5 - Los Angelas at Boston (Schilling) TBS
Game 3: October 7 - Boston at Los Angelas (Matsuzaka) TBS/TNT
Game 4: October 8 - Boston at Los Angelas (Beckett) TBS
Game 5: October 10 - Los Angelas at Boston (Schilling) TBS

Boston will likely prefer ALDS #2 so they can use Beckett and Matsuzaka twice on regular rest with Schilling in the middle game. The same can be said about Cleveland with Sabathia and Carmona, but they may prefer to take ALDS #1 to put a strain on the Yankee pitching.

Things couldn't have shaped up better for the Yanks and Sox. Boston usually handles the Halos and the Yanks have had success against the Indians. But, anything can happen in a short series!

Angels won 4 of 7 this year from Boston. Little worried tho, because Escobar hasn't been pitching great this month, although he did handle the A's today.

Boston usually plays the Angels pretty well so it won't surprise me when the Sox win the series pretty quickly.

was hoping the scenarios would be different. Cleveland and the Angels both originally wanted the series Boston got. The Yankees now need 4 pitchers with Mussina the likely 4th (looked like garbage the other day). If Clemens can't go Hughes will be the 4th.

Stand corrected, forgot about the April series. They won 4 out of 7 after the all-star break.

What scares me about this series is Lackey is 0-2 this year against the Bo Sox and Escobar has been struggling. Saunders is 2-0 though, so that is a bright spot, although he will only get 1 start (if at all). Also, I don't have faith in Weaver.

Haven't exactly been explosive on offense as of late either. We shall see.
